Do the opportunities and wishes you complete carry over to when you start a new game?

Yes. But they aren't stored in your save file so if you reinstall your game data because of a glitched trophy you lose everything.

urm so say i want to move my sims saved data onto a new ps3 and still have my game and progression on the wishes and things, what would i do? please help, im an idiot when it comes to technical stuff :s

You can use the data transfer utility on your ps3 with an ethernet cord to transfer from one ps3 to another, I think that transfers everything, including your game saves. You could also backup to an external drive and copy that over to your new ps3.

Yues it can if you directly connect one PS3 to another, which I ve never done so I dunno.
I highly recommendusing a USB..
Cheap USB stick or any external HDD will do(HDD must be formated to FAT32)
Dont forget to either copy your save films or use the back uu utility in system settings.
You can do both to ensure your success.
But the ggame says something like some things are bound to your profile + the online pass, so I dunno how it is with this game.
Make sure to find out it be4 doing something...
You dont wanna lose your progress!
