I just found this out on my 2nd playthru and double-checked it on another one. I dont remember this EVER being mentioned, but, if you are playing on easy or normal combat difficulty, if Murphy's health drops below 40%, it will slowly regenerate back up to 40%.
Its a nice trick to use if you are low on medkits - just let yourself regen THEN use a kit! You will be at 90% instead of lower! Hope this helps somebody... Edit: Thanks to Lord Malachite and reconfirmed by me, this trick works on Hard Combat difficulty, too!

For Hard difficulty, if you are low on health and reach a save point, just kill yourself right after that, reload your last save and you'll start right there with 100% health again. It's a great way to save medkits for later and harder sections of the game where you need them most.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I just finished my Hard Combat playthrough tonight and I can confirm that Murphy would autoheal to 40% even on Hard. The only time I ever needed to spam First Aid Kits was during the final boss sequence.
