Looking at the Leaderboards for the first time in 2 weeks...
Maybe I should change it to when someone gets under 7 minutes? lol

Of course, I could just post it now, but I think that the community should at least earn it just a little bit. I mean, come on.

I try to average around 30 seconds on the first boss. Fastest time on the first one is 18 seconds. Electric Ave. gives me fits.

Just started Shatter late last night and got every trophy in one run bar the bonus level one which I did after. All that was left to do was the boss rush today. Good God, the game was great up until that point. Took me 5 hours non stop and almost drove me mad. Finished on 9.22. It is easily about 80% luck. Now don't get me wrong before anyone goes on a skill rant! You do, absolutely need every bit of skill in your blood to do this well and consistently get far with a decent time. The problem is its not enough. I prefer things to be left to skill alone. Hope I don't upset anyone here and will try to make this helpful after all thats why the topic is here! Here's what worked for me:
Stage 1: Launch every ball you have blow them away, occasionally suck for energy use it when full
Stage 2: Launch every ball at top of screen, blow again occasionally sucking, fill meter but save it for round 3
Stage 3: Launch ball without moving to score 2-3 hits then launch shard attack, now try to time it where you launch second ball to get trapped in his wall, keep blowing ball towards him normally and suck when the wall goes back up, launch shard attack when able. Keep it to 2 balls unless your really good with 3.
Stage 4: Launch 3 balls and keep blowing them away, concentrate on bottom of screen, don't get distracted he won't last long
Stage 5: Quickly blow cover away and launch ball for hit, repeat and keep your balls to launch when you blow the cover away.
Stage 6: OK I did the glitch on this once but its very hard. when it launches one of its covers towards you try to launch a ball at the spot where it will retract. Time it right and it will get caught and kill it(very hard me thinks!) Otherwise stick to 2 balls and shard attacks
Stage 7: UH! Suck the cover away and try to launch the ball straight up to the left or right of him, now quickly move to the oposite site while sucking and the ball usually veers in and hits his top (takes practice and this stage can eat time!)
Stage 8: Immediately launch straight up 1 on the left and 2 on the right then blow, move from left to right blowing and when shield goes down launch shard attack (should have from round before) and 4th ball at the same time, this will decimate it very quickly
Stage 9: Oh dear. Start by launching a ball at upper and lower target, then launch 3rd ball straight at opening. Keep blowing balls back at her, collecting power pickups, be careful to wait until after she stops screaming/blowing until you launch ball at the opening, then shard when you can.
Stage 10: Like was mentioned in forum if you don't have 3 balls kill yourself quickly and continue, launch all 3 and blow, just concentrate on keeping them in play and often you will score and get a chance to take a straight shot with a returned ball, just shoot straight don't blow or suck then repeat earlier strategy. Best of LUCK guys. Stick at it and you'll get it eventually!

Thanks for the guide.

This trophy is pissin me off!! I did so damn well, killed a few bosses in like 20-30 seconds ,but NNNNOOOOOOOO, there had 2 b 1 or 2 bosses 2 scew all that up!!!

I'll keep trying, cause if there's something I can't stand, it's a trophy I could never get. Once I get it I'll feel so much relief and pride.

Edited: Yeah, I feel your pain everyone. At first this is one of the hardest trophies EVER, but after like 50 something tries I feel like I can really do it (you thought I was going to say I got in under 10 min. didn't you lol ), but trust me it's possible to do this after you basically memorize the bosses, the closest I got was 10:16, it was very rough to take that but it's all a matter of time and trying til I got this beauty, then I'm going to take like a 2 month break from this game and try master batter trophy. GOOD LUCK PLAYERS!!

Man, I had quite the day on Shatter today! I was really tired, but decided to load up Shatter and give it a shot. In my half-conscious state, I not only got the "Fringe Benefits" trophy, but I also got the "The Boss" trophy! Now, all that's left is Master Batter...

Also, I got a pretty weird glitch on one of the bosses (the one where you must suck to show his weak spot). He did his dropping attack and one of my balls got stuck as he went back to the top of the screen and it instantly killed him. He doesn't drop upside-down, so that means I hit him through his armor or something.

Whoa , that's freakin awesome when you get those ridiculously hard trophies so easily you know? Congrats buddy. Took me like 50 something tries to get The Boss. Yeah I got that glitch too w/ Overreactor like 4 or 5 times out of my attempts. This trophy can sure test your patience imo.

100% bee hotches!

My only benefit from these guides however was mainly this: use multiple balls as often as you can.

Aside from the possibility of glitching Blossom, Over Reactor, and Xenon (and only Xenon I ever got to glitch, and this was sadly AFTER I had already completed Boss Rush), the only real tips to take away from here are to Shard Storm Electric Avenue when vulnerable and release as many balls as possible, especially pin him against a wall and bounce balls between him and wall he'll die in 5 seconds.

The only thing you can really do is get used to it yourself. Maybe this guide gives you hope, and seeing Dre say that he can always get under 8 and has a 4 min score, but damn this game, it really requires your own strategy and skill and tons of luck. Skill in that you can't let anything by you when you have the opportunity to stop it, and luck in everything else.

I hate games that require luck.

Tell me about it. I've only tried this mode a handful of times, but tonight I got an 11:15.XX despite a 4 and a half minute Xenon Queen fight. Everything up until that point pretty much happened by magic. I hit personal bests on almost every boss and Death Blossom bit the dust in under 9 seconds.

I have a couple of bosses down to a fairly reliable pattern now, but in a lot of cases, it's a fine line between things working perfectly for a 20 second fight, or things going horribly and taking 1:30. Over-reactor and Xenon Queen are horrible like that

After hours of trying, i finally got The Boss trophy, and while the most helpful advice is indeed to have as many balls as you can control on the screen, I always screwed up with this tactic on Clock o' Block, and using 2 balls, i rarely defeated him in a good time.

So, I figured a tactic for defeating him 9/10 times in under 30 seconds: simply use shard storm a moment after he screams, as the screaming indicates that he is about to use his impenetrable shield. This way, you can carefully wait for the right moment to shoot one or if you are good two and more balls between his shield and the boss himself, so that you are able to bring him down in one shield phase.

If you are missing only a couple of seconds for the trophy, this might tip the scale; it's still mostly luck, though :<
