On the other hand, the Mustang looks like it'll feel weird, so I don't know if I should just settle and buy that one. Hmm, decisions.
I think, as real guitar players, the ability to play guitar in a game like RB3 is priceless. Some people may disagree, but i think it'll teach us to play more accurately, and will greatly advance our skill, especially if we get to the point of being able to 5 star those impossible songs. I real teacher or lessons or some kind of formal instruction is still advised, but, although i have not yet tried it, I think playing in RB3, and getting real time feedback, will be more beneficial than just practicing by itself.

Since you already have several guitars, you'd probably only use this one in RB3, so the low quality pickup probably won't matter much. And if you're planning on using RB to improve your guitar skill, the strings are definitely necessary. But, if you only plan on using the guitar for the trophies and won't play it much after that, then i'd suggest the mustang.

Personally, I'm impatiently waiting for the squire to be released, and I plan to use RB3 as a 2nd guitar teacher. The squire will by my first electric guitar (i've been using my dad's) and I'd actually prefer to pay $500 for a higher quality guitar, with 2 or 3 REAL pickups and a tone knob. But regardless, I still think it's one of the best purchases i could ever make in the video game world.

if you got a 100% music rating try singstar. it's still the hardest music game to get legit imo and I'm right there with ya. pretty much got the plats on the others or am about to finish them up :-). but i'll have to save my money for this game. pro guitars and the keyboard AHHH i've spent enough money on this damn game already. why do i have to spend more to get another plat lol. oh well

I now have all trophies except the Pro Guitar trophies (which I have coming in the mail this week)

I feel confident giving this a 10/10

Only other game I have platted that deserves a 10 is Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2.

Rock Band 2 is probably a 8.5 or 9

I'm voting it a 10 for now, SOLELY because some of the trophies require you to purchase added peripherals, and one of them doesn't even come out for another 4 months (I refuse to buy that bullshit 100-button "pro" guitar, waste of $100)
once the Squier pro guitar (the actual 6 string) comes out, I'll probably take this difficulty down to about a 6-7, just cause it's not so much as hard, just those couple that'll be a bitch to get.

I hate rating a game's difficulty based solely on peripherals, but this is a joke. There's no way I'm buying a drum expansion (or a different drum set), together with a keyboard peripheral and a "pro" guitar (OK - I might get the last one, but only because it would be fun to learn something about guitar while playing a game).

Thus, this gets a 10, because I will never get this platinum. Tangentially, LMAO that, at a time when rhythm games are bottoming out in popularity, EA thinks it's a good idea to force a ton of extras on the consumer.

Really? This game getting 10s? This is definitely not harder than games like Guitar Hero Smash Hits or Metallica. So what is there are a bunch of new peripherals you need to buy. It doesn't make this game difficult to actually plat. Rock Band 3 is actually easier than Rock Band 2. Oh well. Too many people vote anyway because they think they actually know the game are n00bs. By the way, I've done all plats on the music games on another account, and I'm a REALLY good tournament player also. Having said that, I vote a 5.

Yeah, I'm definitely a noob when it comes to music games. But next time, I'll be sure to pay attention to the rule that says, "Only vote if your opinion agrees with grimydawg, or the other "expert" music game players."

Congrats on your excellent music game record. You're obviously very proud of it as well, since you never fail to mention it. What is this, 20 times that I've read it?

No, that's not what I'm saying, but this game isn't that hard. There's no way RB3 is harder than all Guitar Hero game except Van Halen. A 9.3/10 difficulty rating? Please.....

While I agree that RB3 is overrated, I sure don't agree that it's easier than RB2.

If it weren't for the pause/rewind trick, it would be almost impossible for me to complete the Keys trainers.

Getting 5-star on all songs on Expert is a nightmare for most players (myself included) too. RB2 only expected you to pass all the songs on Expert (ESL2)

There are a lot of songs that I can't 5-star on RB3 on bass or guitar, so I will se if my wife can get 5-star on vocals.

As for the average voter, I don't expect too much from them since Lego Rock Band.

People don't understand the concept of proportion here. If RB3 is a 9.3, Smash Hits would be a 12 or 13, at least.

If grimydawg thinks that RB3 is a 5, GH5 should be a 2 and Band Hero should be -1 then. Again, he too showed no sense of proportion either.
