Walkthrough:

Although it is entirely possible to platinum the game in three playthroughs it is highly unlikely. The reason being that one of the three playthroughs requires you to play without losing all of your lives, which is very hard to do, let alone on the first time through the game with a ship. Three or four playthroughs on Experienced and one on Veteran is the best way to go about platting the game.

To start out with, you will be able to choose from Rookie, Experienced, and Veteran difficulties (Easy, Normal, Hard). Unless you are truly dominant at the genre there is no reason to start out on the hardest difficulty, since you have to play through the game at least three times anyway. It’s best to just get your bearings and a feel of the game by starting on Experienced with either Nemesis of Ferox. Try and save as many humans as possible but don’t obsess over it. If you can’t save them all in one go it’s fine; you’ll be clearing the levels several times again.

Despite not having a difficulty rating themselves, I’d say that Phobs is the hardest to use correctly, while Ferox is the easiest and Nemesis is somewhere in between.

After you’ve beaten the game once you can either move on to Veteran immediately with the ship you just used—now that you are accustomed to it—try a different ship on the same difficulty, or brave a new difficulty with a ship you haven’t tried. I personally suggest playing through Experienced again with another ship to see if you like it more. In the end you’ll save yourself time and frustration on Veteran if you’re well versed in how to use a ship you enjoy.

Once you’ve gotten two playthroughs out of the way you should be used to the games mechanics and start to hone your skills. Make extra effort to go for every human and master survival. If all goes well you should have saved all of the humans in at least 3 or 4 of the maps by the time you finish your third playthrough.

If you haven’t finished Veteran difficulty already you should get it out of the way and immediately start on the 1CC trophy. Although I suggest using Phobos you should use whatever one you feel most confident about for it. If you find yourself struggling be sure to refer to each level’s respective trophy walkthrough.

The last trophies you should really put a lot of effort into are Masterful dodger of revenge bullets and stuff alike and 15x multiplier, along with any of the cleanup.

Step 1

Beat the game with your ship of choice on Experienced difficulty

Since you will have to beat the game with all three ships on two separate difficulties, it doesn’t really matter which one you do it with first. Just be sure that you complete it in one sitting from start (Level 1- Acis), to finish (Level 5- Mefitis), without exiting the game for any reason; otherwise you will not earn each respective ship trophy.

If you are new to the genre or not that great at it I would suggest playing with Ferox, since it is the most straight forward and easy to use.

For most people I suggest playing on Experienced difficulty in order to prepare you for your following playthroughs. Rookie can instill bad habits and won’t teach you the attack patterns or timing that you will need.

By the end of this playthrough you should have unlocked the following trophies:

  • (S) Conqueror
  • (B) You have completed basic training!
  • (S) Carry on, nothing to see here
  • (B) Elected Official
  • (B) Certified electrician
  • (S) Store no more
  • (B) Winter is not coming
  • (B) Cool trophy!
  • (B) Denied
  • (B) Savior
  • (B) Fire
  • (B) (1+4)x
    and whichever ship trophy

Step 2

Beat the game with your second ship on Experienced

It’s best to try out at least one more ship on Experienced difficulty. You might find that you enjoy it more and it will give you much needed practice on the difficulty, which you’ll need for 1CC.

Step 3

Beat Veteran with one of the previous ships

Hopefully you enjoyed playing with one or both of the previous ships and can now move on to Veteran. I highly suggest beating Veteran with one you’ve already learned the ins and outs of, rather than trying a brand new one on Veteran just to avoid an extra playthrough. Veteran is a good deal harder than Experienced and requires you to know what you’re doing with your ship.

It is important to note that if you clear Veteran in co-op you will not unlock Master. This will require you to either find someone with Master unlocked and play co-op with them, or re-clearing Veteran for a second time.

By the end of this playthrough you should have unlocked the following trophies:

  • (G) The true RESOGUN starts here...

Step 4

Beat the game with the third ship and go for any remaining Savior trophies

Now that Veteran is done you can get the third ship out of the way and try and really focus on saving humans. Check your trophy list to see which levels you haven’t saved them all in and really work hard to get them all during this playthrough, so you won’t have to worry about it very much during your 1CC playthrough and just focus on surviving.

By the end of this playthrough you should have unlocked the following trophies:

  • (G) Humanist
  • (B) Savior of Acis
  • (B) Savior of Ceres
  • (B) Savior of Decima
  • (B) Savior of Febris
  • (B) Savior of Mefitis

Step 5

Beat the game on Experienced without losing all of your lives (co-op highly suggested)

This is the real challenge of the game. It will just take a lot of patience, practice, and resilience to get done. The best way to ensure your success is to get all of the extra lives and bombs in each level and enter level 5 with at least 3 lives and 3 bombs. This will give you a lot of wiggling room since there are two bonus lives in Mefitis that you will really need, because it is the hardest level by a wide margin.

If you don’t get the free life in the first level and/or you die in it, just restart and don’t bother. You want to go into level 2 with at least 3 lives and all of your bombs. After a lot of trial and error you will eventually get the trophy out of the way. Don’t hesitate to try out different strategies and ships to find the sweet spot that works best for you.

The safest way to get the trophy is by playing in co-op with a decent partner. Enemies don't gain any additional health or numbers while playing with a partner so there is no real drawback for playing with someone else. The best part is that even if one of you loses all of your lives you won't negate the trophy, so long as your partner finishes the level. The person that lost all of their lives will even regain 2 lives and 2 bombs at the start of following level.

Please use the co-op partners thread if you are looking for someone to do it with.

Step 6

Beat a level on Master

Note: You must beat Veteran on Single Player to unlock Master difficulty.

This is also surprisingly challenging at first because enemies shoot back at you when you destroy them. It can be jarring and requires you to play completely differently than normal. The projectiles travel really slow and not very far, but it means you can’t be within close proximity of them when they die.

Simply play with Phobos for a quick clear and use Overdrive on the inner layer of the boss to instantly kill it. If you aren’t comfortable with Phobos then Ferox is the next best bet. Nemesis is really difficult in the first level because its kill speed is far too slow without at least four or five missile upgrades, forcing you to rely even more heavily on boost killing.

By the end of this playthrough you should have unlocked the following trophies:

  • (S) Masterful dodger of revenge bullets and stuff alike

Step 7

Cleanup the remaining trophies

With all of the playthrough trophies out of the way you can now focus on the cleanup, which most likely will be very little due to the nature of the trophy list. The only ones that often take additional some effort are collecting all of the humans, 15x multiplier, and reach a boss with boost only. Chances are very good that you obtained rest of the miscellaneous trophies through regular play.

By the end of this playthrough you should have unlocked the following trophies:

  • (S) Micromanagement
  • (S) How do I stop this thing?!
  • (B) Congratulations on your driver’s licence!
  • (S) O to the D
  • (S) (5+5)x
  • (G) (10+1.5+3.5)x
  • (B) Let fly!
  • (B) To the max!
  • (B) Power
  • (B) Savior
  • (B) Fire
  • (P) I came, I saw, I blew stuff up

Complete all levels on Veteran difficulty

There are a total of five different levels in the game, each consisting of three separate “phases” and a boss. The first three phases within a level are comprised of an ever increasing number of regular enemies. The fourth and final portion is a unique boss that you must kill to finally clear the level, and unlock the next level as well. The bosses themselves also have three phases each that trigger after taking enough damage.

All of the difficulty trophies stack, so clearing the game on a higher difficulty will unlock the preceding trophies as well. To unlock this trophy you must clear all of the levels in Arcade mode on Veteran difficulty. The levels are as follows:

  • Level 1: Acis
  • Level 2: Ceres
  • Level 3: Decima
  • Level 4: Febris
  • Level 5: Mefitis

If you are struggling with a specific level please visit their individual trophy walkthroughs below.

With each increasing difficulty tier the enemies will gain enhanced speed, health, aggression, attack types and an overall spike in sheer quantity. On Veteran and above the enemies will swiftly transform into “golden types” when left alive for too long. They are an even stronger variant of the default version; possessing more health and sometimes altering its attack pattern. Dispatch them as quickly as possible to prevent being overwhelmed by empowered golden enemies.

Although there is no definitive best ship to use—they each have their benefits and cater to a specific play style—I personally found that the Nemesis was the fastest and easiest to clear when played well. The recharge rate on its Boost ability allows you to use it offensively and often to clear large swaths of enemies, or escape from a heavy onslaught. Simply tapping the button in the direction of a group can instantly destroy any enemy type. It also grants temporary invincibility and destroys projectiles at the location you finish your boost.

If you aren’t confident with your boosting capabilities, or aren’t that great at this genre of games, then the Ferox is the best alternative. You should only take Phobos on Veteran if you are extremely good at dodging projectiles and managing your Overdrive, due to the long recharge time on Boost.

Complete Acis

Acis is the very first level that you will play in the game. It acts as a tutorial of sorts, teaching you how to use Boost, Overdrive, save humans, etc. Despite being a tutorial it is surprisingly long in comparison to some of the levels and particularly challenging during the middle parts of phase 2 and 3. It is very easy to die from the swarming purple enemies if you don’t make good use of your Boost and Overdrive, so be prepared to use them.

To kill the boss you must destroy the three weak points in order to open up its core. Once the core is open make your way inside of its body to destroy the inner walls. Be sure to avoid the pulsing fire as well as his body, because you will die if you come into contact with either. It will rotate after each layer is destroyed forcing you to reposition. Simply dodge and attack until it is dead.

Can be unlocked in Single Level or Arcade Mode.

05.jpg  Certified Electrician (B)

Complete Ceres

Ceres is the second level of the game and has one of the trickier bosses. You must destroy the four green weak points in order to progress the fight. Depending on the difficulty you are playing the boss will begin rotating away from you to avoid taking damage. This will force you to use Boost to get into position and destroy the weak point, while avoiding incoming fire.

During phase 2 of the boss fight it will transform and begin moving much faster, while launching rapid attacks and creating a fire pillar. To avoid dying move as far away as possible until it begins to create the fire pillar beneath it. Once it does use your boost to shoot through the fire and out through the other side, then proceed traveling away from it. Shortly thereafter it will reveal its weak point so you may attack it. Repeat this process until it dies.

Can be unlocked in Single Level or Arcade Mode.

07.jpg  Store no more (S)

Complete Decima

Decima is the third level in the game and is where the game starts to become particularly challenging. This level introduces a zig zagging snakelike enemy that can be a pain to kill, particularly in its gold form. Phobos is the only one that handles them well without Boost. In fact, they are the best source of Overdrive meter in the game for him.

The third phase of this level is hands down one of the most difficult. Not just for the level, but in the entire game. It's best to use one bomb to safely get through it, or even an overdrive and a bomb if you aren't going for a large multiplier.

The boss is a cube that bobs around and launches very easy to avoid attacks. The challenge comes from when he creates a grey clone of itself that then breaks into smaller cubes. When it does this attack the cube and ignore the boss. Once you’ve cleared the majority of the debris you should then proceed to attacking it. If you don’t clear enough of the smaller cubes before creating a second or third cube, you will have a huge number of debris on your hands as well as the boss’ attacks.

A great strategy is to save your Overdrive meter for one of the replicated cubes, which will also unlock the O to the D trophy if you don't already have it. Be sure to immediately launch the overdrive attack once the new cube appears. Don’t break it up with a regular shot beforehand because it will scatter and make the Overdrive less effective.

Can be unlocked in Single Level or Arcade Mode.

07.jpg  Winter is not coming (S)

Complete Febris

Febris is the fourth level and has one of the most difficult third phases. It is very hard to get the humans in this level without the right positioning and skill usage. Due to the abundance of lasers your movement will be really restricted at some points. Don’t panic though, simply destroy the closest ones on either side of you before dealing with the enemies. Don’t hesitate to use your Boost to clear out an entire line when necessary.

For the boss you should absolutely save an Overdrive for it. Unlike the previous boss where it simply speeds up the process—due to the relative ease of the boss—using it in this fight will probably save you lives. The reason for the Overdrive is it will peel back the protective cubes that are guarding the red core, which is the weak point and only way to damage it. Once enough of the cubes are destroyed you can proceed to damaging the core.

If you don’t have overdrive it will take considerably longer and increase your risk of dying. Dodge the homing attacks by going up and down and circling around them when they get close. You can also tap boost away with Ferox and Nemesis, but it can prove challenging on Veteran or Master, especially with Phobos.

Can be unlocked in Single Level or Arcade Mode.

04.jpg  Cool trophy! (G)

Complete Mefitis

Mefitis is the fifth and final level in the game. It is a huge difficulty spike and the boss is light years more challenging than the previous ones. Bombs and Overdrive are your best friend because even boosting can be fatal in this level.

First and foremost you will need to destroy the small enemies that have a gold trail behind them. They move back and forth and won’t go away until you destroy them. Kill them from top to bottom rather than in the middle to make things easier. During phase 3 a ton will spawn at the top, middle, and bottom simultaneously. It is best to just use a bomb to immediately get rid of them because the next wave of enemies come right after.

Next is the gigantic full length lasers. Whenever you see them you will want to focus on them immediately, because they restrict your movement and are easy to die to. Boosting through a line of them is the best choice for anyone but Phobos.

Lastly is the boss. What makes this fight so challenging are the really, really, really hard to dodge cube attacks. They come so fast and for so long that it’s easy to make a mistake. He has four stages that you need to deal with:

Spoiler

Phase 1 - Zig zagging cube snake

During this stage you’ll want to be moving away while attacking it. It does small gradual hops at you and will eventually catch up. They are preset distances so it’s easy to judge when it will finally reach you. When it is one hop away simply tap boost to get outside of its range. Repeat until the next phase.

Phase 2 - Red cube lines

This is the beginning of the trouble. To avoid dying in this phase simply stay calm and watch the red groupings. Try and stay between the lines and attack them for as long as possible. Once you’re blocked in by red lines and one appears on you, tap boost to the left to reach safety. It will take a lot of patience and a steely resolve to not accidentally hit the lines, or boost too early/late.

Phase 3 - Hydra looking cube w/ orb attacks

This is a very easy phase to do wrong. The farther away you are from the hydra, the harder it will be. Try and get pretty close to it and be at the top or bottom of the screen. Once it fires begin moving up/down immediately to dodge the grouping and narrowly find the opening. Rinse and repeat until phase 4.

Phase 4 - Zig zagging cube snake + orb attacks

You will want to do a mixture of the burst dodging and aggressive attacking. If you have multiple lives you can actually boost into an opening at the top or bottom of the snake and safely attack it, without the risk of dying to the orbs. This is actually the safest way to kill it for Phobos because of his slow move speed. For the other two you can kite endlessly and just dodge.

Can be unlocked in Single Level or Arcade Mode.

10.jpg  Micromanagement (S)

Save two humans within a span of one second

To save a human you must destroy the Keepers when they come to kill them. Once you do you can then safely pick them up, one at a time, and taxi them to an escape pod; one of two green escape pods at the top of the screen.

The easiest way to accomplish this is on Rookie difficulty with the Nemesis, on the Acis level. Destroy the very first set of Keepers that appear and then find the stranded human. Pick it up and travel along the bottom of the screen to the nearest escape pod and go right under it. Drop the human directly under the green pod with :l2: and continue playing until the next set of Keepers appear, so that you can get a second human. Pick it up and travel back to where the first one is.

Now with one picked up and the other directly under the portal, stand right on top of the second human. Start pressing :l2: rapidly until both are in the air above you, then start moving your ship upwards into the escape pod while continuously pressing :l2: as fast as you can. You will easily juggle both into it at the exact same time and unlock the trophy.

Doing this method will also unlock the Let Fly! trophy which requires you to throw a human into an escape pod using :l2:.

10.jpg  How do I stop this thing?! (S)

Kill 50 enemies with one boost

Boosting is when you rapidly launch your ship forward using :l1: and it destroys any enemies within its path. It also creates a small EMP blast where you stop that destroys enemies in a small radius around you, as well as projectiles. The blast becomes larger the longer you hold down your boost. The duration of the boost is also increased if you ram into a lot of enemies.

To easily unlock this trophy early on in the game, load up the second level, Ceres, on the Experienced difficulty with the Nemesis ship. Kill the enemies like normal and you will see some Keepers spawn. Dispatch them and a small singular line of enemies will come from your left and right. Kill them both and immediately stop firing because a much larger wave of enemies will follow them on both sides.

Stand still until both of waves of purple enemies are virtually on top of you. Just as they reach you you will hear a message that another set of Keepers are appearing, that’s how you know you did it correctly. Right as they get on top of you hold down :l1: and move back and forth through all of them until they are destroyed, then branch out and hit the nearby keepers and other enemies. Don’t let go of :l1:, just let it run out on its own. Once the ability ends the trophy will unlock.

If for whatever reason you did it incorrectly just press Options and Restart Game to do it again until it unlocks.

10.jpg  Congratulations on your driver’s license! (B)

Reach the end-boss of any level using boost only

To unlock this trophy all you have to do is use only your Boost (:l1:) to kill enemies. If you use Overdrive, Shoot, or Bomb it will negate the trophy. Dying and having an enemy killed as a result of the explosion will not count against you.

The easiest and undoubtedly fastest method for unlocking this trophy is in co-op. Have your partner kill all of the enemies any way he wants (Bombs, Overdrive, Shooting, etc.), while you only use boost. Despite the fact your partner is shooting the trophy will still unlock for you. (Thanks to Yazter and mullinavat for finding this)

If you are unable to find a partner or prefer to do this solo, I suggest selecting Rookie difficulty and the Nemesis ship. Just tap :l1: to destroy the enemies over and over rather than holding it down for long periods. If you hold it down you put it on cooldown and risk dying, rather than easily darting around killing things.

Do it on either Acis or Ceres level for the least amount of trouble. If you are really confident with your boosting (or are in co-op) you can do it on Decima or Febris because they are shorter levels.

13.jpg  O to the D (S)

Kill 100 enemies during Overdrive

Overdrive is the :r1: skill that each ship has. When used it slows down the game, makes you invulnerable, and launches a giant green laser out that instantly vaporizes anything in its path. After killing enough enemies and collecting the green particles the overdrive meter will fill. You can tell how full the meter is by looking at the green bar underneath your ship.

The most reliable method for unlocking this trophy is by using overdrive against the final boss on the Decima level. Once the boss takes enough damage it will replicate itself and create a grey cube, which is signaled by a flashing red square. When you see the square immediately with stop firing with :rs:, then use overdrive once the grey cube appears. The trophy will unlock once the overdrive comes to an end.

This can be done on any difficulty and with any ship. However, if you are also going for the (10+1.5+3.5)x trophy (A.K.A. 15x multiplier), I suggest you play on Veteran and use the Nemesis ship. For more assistance with the 15x multiplier please see its trophy walkthrough.

13.jpg  Masterful dodger of revenge bullets and stuff alike (S)

Complete a level on Master difficulty

After beating the game on Veteran difficulty in Single Player you will unlock Master. If you clear Veteran while in co-op it will not unlock. If this happens you can either find someone that has it unlocked already and play with them for one level, or re-clear Veteran for a second time.

In Master every time you destroy an enemy it will shoot back a slow moving, short range attack at you. This coupled with the increased speed and health of enemies makes it a real challenge. Don’t even bother trying to clear the first level with Nemesis because it takes absolutely forever and the boss is even worse.

For those that are skilled with it, Phobos will decimate the first level after it gets the first weapon upgrade. Overdrive is invaluable on Master because there is no retaliation attack and you can clear out literally everything. If you rotate it with your bombs and tap boosting you won’t be touched.

If Phobos doesn’t work out there is always Ferox. It’s an extremely safe ship to play on Master. Its main gun pushes enemies back which keeps them from getting in range for the retaliation to do damage. The boost is also on low enough of a cooldown that you can flee safely and even mix in some overdrive.

Once you get used to the revenge attacks this difficulty isn’t that challenging at all. Just don’t put an emphasis on saving humans because it will get you killed.

Complete Arcade mode without losing all lives, on Experienced difficulty

This trophy is where the majority of your time and effort will be spent on the game. To unlock it you must complete all five levels from start to finish, without losing all of your lives, on the Experienced difficulty setting. It doesn’t matter how many total lives you lose so long as you don’t reach the game over (continue) screen.

What makes this challenging is that there isn’t a ship that excels against every enemy and boss. This causes you to do exceptionally well on some levels and struggle on others. The key to success is practice, practice, practice and being diligent about collecting bombs and lives from saving humans. Luckily the rewards for saving humans is static so you can put forth extra effort on those.

They can be found during the following waves:

Spoiler

Acis:

Bomb - 6th

Life - Final human

Ceres:

Bomb - 7th

Life - 8th, kill in order enemies, be careful when targeting them

Decima:

Bomb - 4th, kill in order enemies, be careful when targeting them

Life - 7th, kill in order enemies, be careful when targeting them

Febris:

Life - 2nd, kill in order enemies, be careful when targeting them

Bomb - 7th

Mefitis:

Life #1- 7th

Life #2- Final human, triple stacked squids that you must kill in order, be careful when targeting them

I personally found the Phobos ship to be the best suited for the job. It absolutely decimates the bosses and has the fastest kill rate of any ship thanks to its exploding rounds. It also has a very close range laser attack that further protects you against things that make it within a few inches of you. The best aspect of it is the constant use over overdrive that further speeds up killing and saves you in a pinch. The one down side is the long cooldown on boost. However, if you are smart with your overdrive and don’t boost recklessly it is fine.

The second best ship is undoubtedly the Ferox. The only reason it isn’t the best is due to its very linear attacks that struggles against large groups of enemies, causing you to be overran in no time. The key to playing well with it is a constant rotation between tap boosting and overdrive.

Nemesis is the odd man out because of its ridiculously slow killing speed and high risk play style. To really excel at the ship you must constantly be boosting around, which puts you in danger and will quickly drain your lives. Worse yet is how long it takes to kill bosses which further increases the risk of you dying over the course of long, drawn out fights.

For help with individual levels please see their respective trophy walkthroughs.

15.jpg  Humanist (G)

Save all humans

This trophy is cumulative and therefore does not need to be done in one playthrough.

In each level there are a total of 10 humans that can be saved. To save one you must defeat various Keepers that appear on the map to release it from a cage, or have a high enough multiplier. In the case of the multiplier waves the cage will just immediately open without new enemies appearing, or instantly kill the human if the multiplier is too low. You can distinguish a Keeper from a regular enemy by its green glow, or the crosshairs that are on the "special Keepers" that require a set kill order.

Once the human is out of the cage you must pick it up before it is either abducted by another Keeper, or dies by falling off of the map. When you have it on your ship you must then take it to one of two green escape pods to save it. If you die while carrying a human it too will die.

Here is a list of ways that a human can die during the level:

  • A Keeper escapes before you can kill them all (even a single one in a group will cause it to die)
  • You die while holding a human
  • It's abducted after being freed
  • It falls off a gap in the floor or into water (thrown, shot, walked, etc.)
  • You kill a "special Keeper" in the wrong order*
  • You have too low of a multiplier* (Credit to billyballs for pointing this out)

*The two red starred items are the only two that require you to do something in addition to simply killing the Keepers as quickly as possible. Fortunately are also the least common.

What makes this trophy challenging at times is the varying types of Keepers and their locations. It can be difficult to locate them in the midst of battle, or in the case of some Keepers, you can accidentally kill them in the wrong order and it kills the human. There are also instances where you must have a high enough multiplier before the next human appears, otherwise it will instantly fail.

It is best to not even bother with this trophy until you have completed at least two or three playthroughs, or even 1CC for that matter, since you will be spending a lot of time and effort on maximizing your ship. Not to mention what will most likely be a ton of attempts on each level. If there are still more humans to be saved after the other trophies are out of the way, you can see which levels you need to complete by looking at which Savior trophies you haven’t unlocked.

Load up whichever level you need to save all of the humans on using the Nemesis ship and on Rookie difficulty. It takes a very long time for abductors to appear when you are on Rookie and the Keepers move really slowly. Your multiplier will also decay slower making the multiplier humans easier.

The only real catch here is there are some Keepers you can’t just indiscriminately kill in order to save the human. For those you must kill them in the correct order.

Below you can see a list of the level and Keeper wave that the special kill order Keepers spawn in, as well as waves that require a certain multiplier:

  • Acis
    • 7th (3x+ Multiplier)
    • 9th (4x+ Multiplier)

Save a human from Abductor’s beam

After you free a human from its cage it will begin to roam aimlessly on the ground. If you wait long enough to pick it up eventually an Abductor ship will fly over it and begin to beam it up. Kill the ship or grab the human to save it from the Abductor and unlock the trophy. This will come naturally, but if you want to get it out of the way early just intentionally leave the human on the ground until the Abductor comes.

Get a multiplier of 15x

You gain multiplier by destroying enemies. The faster you kill them the quicker the the multiplier will increase. Dying will reset the multiplier as will waiting too long between attacking an enemy, or picking up/saving a human.

Each difficulty is capped at the following multipliers:

  • Rookie - 5x
  • Experienced -10x
  • Veteran - 15x
  • Master - 20x

The higher the difficulty you play on, the faster you will accumulate the multiplier meter. However, it will also reset significantly faster as well. This makes gaining a large meter of even 8 or 9x+ on Master difficulty rather challenging.

The best way to go about unlocking this trophy is by playing with Nemesis on Veteran difficulty, on the Decima level. Its ability to use boost almost indefinitely allows you to get out of trouble and preserve your life, while also instantly killing tougher enemies. This coupled with homing missiles and medium kill speed is the perfect combination for high multipliers.

Play through the entire level with one goal in mind: preserving your multiplier meter. If you die half way through just restart the level. The end of phase 2 and all of of phase 3 are the most dangerous sections, so try and save all of your bombs for then.

Don’t immediately kill every enemy because you risk running out of things to shoot and thus resetting your meter. Try and always leave a few guys alive if you are between wave spawns, and pick up/save humans to refresh it as needed. The goal is to get to the boss with as high a meter as possible while saving up an Overdrive.

During the boss fight destroy every single last grey cube it creates, down to the smallest one. After it it creates its third clone immediately use your overdrive on it. Doing this will also unlock the trophy O to the D if you haven't already obtained it. Be sure not to shoot the grey cube before using overdrive because this will mess up your damage. You'll know the cube is about to replicate when it flashes the red square around itself. When done correctly it will massively boost your already high meter. It’s very possible to get to 15x by doing this level from start to finish.

If you aren’t at the 15x multiplier when the boss dies you will hopefully be near it, which is perfectly fine. Just finish off the final amount on the next level. I had 12.95x at the end of Decima and reached 15x in Febris within a minute at most.

To unlock this trophy you must beat the entire Arcade mode from start (Level 1 - Acis) to finish (Level 5 - Mefitis) with the Ferox ship. If you exit the game at any time for any reason the trophy will not unlock, even if you immediately resume playing from the same level. If you lose all your lives and simply continue it will not invalidate the trophy, so don't worry about failing the levels unless you are going for 1CC as well.

Starting from a level other than Acis and then finishing the others will also not work, so be sure to do the following:

Single Player -> Arcade -> Select Difficulty -> Ferox -> Acis -> Clear the game without exiting or turning off your PS4.

27.jpg  To the max! (B)

Fully upgrade the ship

You can upgrade the main guns and Overdrive. To upgrade the main guns you need to destroy the floating green circular plus signs that release power ups. In order to upgrade Overdrive you will have to save humans, which is more difficult to do. If you are thorough about saving humans you should max out your Overdrive at the beginning of level 3, Decima. Your main cannon won’t be finished until the 4th level, Febris.

You must upgrade both to the maximum during one playthrough otherwise it won’t unlock. If you neglect saving humans and don’t max out Overdrive, but finish off your guns, you will have to try it again in another playthrough.

has anyone tried level selecting just the last level and beating that for the ship trophies?

also, imo, hands down, Nemesis is the best ship. he is the fastest, has the best boost and gets those homing missiles with the weapon upgrade which really helps keep your multiplier up.

Just a tip for O to the D.

This is EXTREMELY easy to do by saving your overdrive on level 3 until the boss (The Cube). Get him down to his final phase, where he sheds his "skin", and the moment he does, blast it with the OD. While doing so strafe up and down the height of the "skin", and you will destroy the entire thing, including all of the little bits. This is well over 100 "enemies", and the trophy will pop no problem. Can be done on any difficulty.

Edit: I see now that you mention this for another trophy. I just thought I'd make note of it because your O to the D trophy seems to be empty at the moment. :)

Like I said in the guide the only way to get the ship trophies is by starting from the first level and playing all the way through. If you play them out of order it won't unlock.

I made that mistake by beginning on Ceres (lvl 2) w/ Phobos, then did Acis thinking I just needed to clear all the levels one way or another. It forced me have to do another full playthrough and on Veteran no less.

As for the best ship: I think it depends on the player and what you are trying to accomplish. I thought Nemesis was the best all around ship as well until I played heavily with Phobos. Then it was Ferox. Now I know they are all really good at different things and strategies.

Thanks for pointing that out. I accidentally copy/pasted the blank version of it. There should have been a walkthrough there but I must've cut it off by accident. I'll go back and fix it

i couldnt even beat the final boss with the mid ship. with nemesis, i plowed through all difficulties in 1 night.

so i have all the savior trophies (save all human on X level) yet no Humanist trophy. does this have to be done in 1 arcade run? the description in the guide makes it seem like you dont.

It's very possible that it has to be with one ship, but it definitely isn't in a singular run. I didn't even bother with saving all of the humans until my second run. I ended up completing it with 4 out of 5 savior trophies, then went back and cleaned up the final one right after.

I'm also sure it doesn't have to be done on one difficulty. I unlocked the final one on Rookie but the rest on Veteran.

EDIT: I just looked at your trophy card and it says you are missing the level 5 savior trophy. Did you not sync it or do you really not have it?

i did sync. i had that trophy. i figured out what it was though. i played resogun on my gf's ps4 at her house. i got the trophy for level 3 there but through all my other play throughs, i never got level 3 clear again on MY ps4. so i just got it when i cleared all the humans on the level i did at my gf's house.

Trophies in this game seem FAR easier than Super Stardust.

Just beat the game on my FIRST playthrough on Veteran with Nemesis. Last level was tricky as hell, but I'm experienced with shmups, so I got it done. I also randomly got the micromanagement trophy on the final level when I wasnt even trying for it.

BTW, here is a video...

I get micromanagement at 2:30... final boss starts at 9:15

Your game glitched out and let you pick you pick up two humans at the same time. I'm guessing it had to do with the fact you had a shield and had it removed while carrying one. Typically if you are hit while carrying a human you die and so does the human. The game probably signaled that you had lost your human due to damage but you never really did. Strange stuff.

It would be ridiculously hard to replicate this in comparison to doing it legitimately lol.

Maybe it would be worth a try someone testing...

1 - Get a shield

2 - Pickup human

3 - Lose your shield

4 - Pickup second human

5 - Profit.

For 15 x, I followed your method but on the boss I just shot rocks, did t even focus on the boss, and each rock raises the multiplier by 0.01x. Was very easy, as long as you make sure not to lose your multiplier between phases.

Also, I think some humans (sometimes as many as 2 per level) are freed by having a high enough multiplier to release them during certain phases. Youll hear a three note tone and a bluish light will free the human, happens twice on level 5 for sure

Can you list how we need to perform the special kills in the keepers. Also, thank you so much for the guide. It is very awesome and well done.

You just need to kill the one that has the crosshair on it first, then continue on to the next ones that receive it. For all but two of them this is as simple as killing them in a line as they approach you, which can be done pretty easily by either A: detonating a bomb NEAR them, or B: boosting through all of them in a row.

On the final human of the game on Mefitis you need to kill a set of three or four stationary squids from top to bottom. This one you can't use the bomb on because it kills them simultaneously and you will fail. Just pepper them down from close range really slowly.

The only other one that doesn't have them lined up I believe is on Decima wave 6, which is the hardest one to do since you have to kill the center -> bottom -> top one and they move fast and take a lot of damage.

I'll put in something extra for the trophy but it's really just a matter of knowing they are coming and taking your time with them, rather than spamming a bomb or accidentally hitting the wrong one one from afar.

For Humanist does that have to be done in one playthrough of just all levels?

You just have to complete all of the levels. I did 4 out of 5 in one run on Veteran with Phobos (this was exponentially more difficult than the way I suggest), then cleaned up the final one on Rookie with the Nemesis.

2 - Pickup human

Totally not worth it. The shield duration isn't very long so you'd have to either have 3 humans on the map at once to not risk the shield running out on its own. The normal way I suggest is faster and can be done at the start of a level without any major setup like that.

You should shoot the rocks as normal and destroy all of them as needed, but the reason I suggest using Overdrive is it makes clearing them faster and gives you a higher score.

As for the free humans I'm pretty sure it's just the game giving you humans for progressing past a certain point, rather than anything to do with the multiplier. If you notice most of them are overdrive upgrades which are really important to not miss. I know for a fact I've gotten those without having higher than a 2-3x multiplier is why I mention it.

*Boosting Request*

If that works let me know. I didn't even test any of the trophies in co-op because I couldn't find a game, so I'm kind of curious about how they function.
