Introduction:

Welcome to Red Dead Redemption, 2010's Game of The Year. Rockstar has done it again in making another masterpiece. Ride throughout Texas in this 1911 Western as John Marston, a former outlaw, looking for revenge on his former gang. This game has the same gameplay as Grand Theft Auto, without the modern life we know today of course. You can take two different paths, as a hero to the West, or a wanted outlaw to the state of Texas!

This trophy list consists of all sorts of things, mostly completing the game to 100% and reaching to level 50 on multiplayer. With this Roadmap I will be describing the best and fastest way of getting your platinum. There is also one missable trophy, but you can however, avoid missing it if you use your horse carefully i.e Spurred To Victory.

Patch 1.07

If you have the original release of Red Dead Redemption, then you can delete this patch and play offline in a LAN lobby. By doing this you will earn three times as much XP than you normally would. The Game of The Year Edition does not work as it already has the patch installed. This goes for the digital version as well and applies to the How the West Was Won trophy.

Patch 1.08 (June 19th, 2014)

Since the latest patch (1.08) all GameSpy services HAVE BEEN REMOVED. What this means is that the servers no longer support the Rockstar Social Club tracking website and other services. Because of this, you are no longer able to track your 100% progress, making it much harder to earn Redeemed. You will have to track your progress manually. This does NOT mean that the actual multiplayer servers have been removed, so the platinum is still obtainable.

VERY IMPORTANT NOTE!:

It is very important to know that your Multiplayer stats are not saved on the Red Dead Redemption servers, only in your save file. If you lose or delete this save file then you will lose all of your online progress. It is highly recommended to backup your save data regularly. The save file for the online portion is named "Player profile".

To back up your save data, you must have either a USB stick or access to the PS+ Save File Cloud.

Walkthrough:

Step 1: Complete the campaign

In this step you will want to just play yet another brilliant masterpiece by Rockstar. Do not worry so much about trophies, the only trophy you will want to get in this step is Spurred To Victory as it's a missable trophy. Once you have completed the main story you will be able to Free Roam.

Also be on the look out for the first four main challenges so you can work on them while finishing up the main story. Be sure to skin a coyote, save a random stranger from the blue icon on your mini map to receive your very first treasure map, shoot any flying bird in the sky, and pick your first Wild Feverfew flower (white flower). This will let you work on challenges while playing the story, setting yourself up towards 100% completion in step two.

Also be on the look out for the Unatural Selection trophy. You'll have to kill 27 different animal species throughout the game. While meeting the requirements is very unlikely before you finish the main story, it's highly recommend to note down which animals you've killed before you completed the game, making this trophy much easier to earn in step 3.

In this step you will earn the following trophies:

(B) That Government Boy

(B) Land of Opportunity

(B) Sons of Mexico

(B) No More Fancy Words

(B) A Savage Soul

(B) The Benefits of Civilization

(B) Into the Sunset

(B) Spurred to Victory

Step 2: 100% in-game completion (Redeemed)

Getting Redeemed was actually quite fun and it's child's play compared to GTA4's Key to The City trophy, so this won't be that bad. Since the latest patch (1.08), you are no longer able to track your 100% progress from the Social Club. This makes keeping track much harder. However, I have provided a list of everything that you need to keep track of in the Redeemed trophy section.

In this step, you will finish all sets of four challenges, help all strangers, find all 10 hidden treasures throughout the game, and work towards unlocking all of your outfits. Outfits are most time consuming due to the fact that some require you to collect five to six scraps to fully unlock the outfit for it. Scraps require you to do various tasks such as using a map to find it's proper location, or clearing a hideout. For the full list of very location or everything that you need to know, refer to the Redeemed trophy.

In this step you will earn the following trophies:

(B) Buckin' Awesome

(B) Clemency Pays

(B) Exquisite Taste

(B) He Cleans Up Well!

(B) Frontiersman

(B) Man of Honor / Chivalry's Dead

(B) Gold Medal

(B) On the Trail of de Vaca

(B) Strange Things are Afoot

(S) People are Still Strange

(S) Austin Overpowered

(S) Evil Spirits

(S) Instinto Asesino

(G) Redeemed

(G)(H) Nurture or Nature?

Step 3: Single Player Clean Up

Here you will get any Single Player trophies you have not acquired during Steps 1 and 2, most likely by doing specific task's like fighting in saloons for Fightin' Around the World or playing Horseshoes for What About Hand Grenades?.

In this step, you will also work towards any total kills type trophies such as, getting 500 kills with a pistol/rifle, 500 kills with a mounted weapon, and getting 250 headshots. Some of these will come through natural gameplay. However, some of these will need to be farmed until you meet the requirements.

In this step, you will also finish up whatever remaining animal kills you need for the Unatural Selection trophy. If you kept track of every type of animal that you've killed, this shouldn't be difficult to earn during this step.

Refer to each trophy description to find a method to unlock whatever remains in SP before moving on to Multiplayer.

In this step, you will earn the following trophies:

(B) High Roller

(B) No Dice

(B) What About Hand Grenades?

(B) Fightin' Around the World

(B) Bearly Legal

(B) More than a Fistful

(B) Friends in High Places

(B) Mowing Them Down

(B) In a Hail of Bullets

(B) Long Arm of Marston

(B) Bullseye

(B) Unnatural Selection

(B)(H) Manifest Destiny

(B)(H) Dastardly

(B)(H) Heading South on a white Bronco

(S) The Gunslinger

Step 4: Online Multiplayer

In this step you will want to get all 9 online trophies. The main ones that require some effort are The Quick and Everyone Else..., Go Team! and How the West Was Won. Most of these will require for you to win a certain number of match types in a row. Like winning four Team type games in a row, or being the top scoring player in FFA matches. There is also one trophy that will require you to be the leader of a full posse group that requires 8 players. This will most likely need to be boosted. To make these easier, you can find boosting partners in the Red Dead Redemption Trophy Boosting Thread.

In this step you will earn the following trophies:

(S) Have Gun Will Travel

(B) Slow on the Draw

(B) Hit the Trail

(B) Posse Up!

(S) The Quick and Everyone Else...

(S) How the West Was Won

(S) Go Team!

(B) Most Wanted

(B) Red Dead Rockstar

Which will ultimately unlock:

(P) Legend of the West

This mission will be available to you as soon as you've completed the game. You need to head to Blackwater and once you're nearby you will see a "?" icon on your mini-map. Talk to the man and accept the mission. There really isn't a point writing a walkthrough since it will spoil the game.

10.jpg  High Roller (B)

Win over 2000 chips in a hand of Poker.

To get this trophy you will need to win 2000 chips of poker in one hand. There is a pot which is basically like putting in money on the round and whoever wins that round with the best hand wins every chip in the pot.

If you do not know how to play Poker then go to Blackwater and save before attempting to get this trophy. The buy-in is $100 so make sure you have at least that amount in cash. As soon as the game starts, raise all your chips to "All in" which is 1000 chips. There will usually be 1 A.I that doesn't fold and goes all in with you, if you win that hand you would have won 2000 chips and the trophy is yours. If you don't win then reload your last save and repeat.

11.jpg  No Dice (B)

Complete a game of Liar's Dice without losing a single die.

This game is quite fun but kind of confusing if you don't know how to play. You start off with 5, six-sided "dies" which is your dice. The point is to bid on the face and quantity of dice there is in the whole table. You can find liar's dice in saloon's and the first opportunity to play Liar's Dice will be in Thieves' Landing.

Start off the bid with the quantity on x5 and my face on 5. The next bidder can either raise the bid to a higher quantity or a higher face with the same quantity of the previous bid. Keep in mind that you can bluff by bidding on more quantities even if you don't have that many in your cup. If you do this and another player calls a bluff then each player reveals their dice, all quantities and faces combine to your bid. Lets say that you bid x6 on the number 5 face and you only have x5, 5 faced Dice but another player has the same face you bid on, then it will count towards your bid and make your bid true. If it's false then it's considered a bluff and you will lose a die.

The best strategy I found was to always be honest and start off your quantity to be high, it usually causes the next bidder to exaggerate and make a bluff thus causing him to lose a die. Also try to make all players to lose dies on each other. Best way to do this is by being honest and bidding on a low quantity and low face. Sometimes you will have to lie and make a bluff, the A.I usually calls your bluff so be careful and only use it if you think they might have your faced bid. Just be honest and play smart and you won't have a problem getting this. If you lose a die then try not to quit the game, get to know how the game is played as it really is a great game.

12.jpg  What About Hand Grenades? (B)

Get a ringer in a game of Horseshoes.

This trophy is quite tricky as you have to get your Horseshoe onto a ringer pole. You are able to access this game early on in the game at MacFarlane's Ranch, however the horseshoe pits at Rathskeller Fork are way easier to get a ringer on because they are closer together than the ones in MacFarlane's Ranch. If you are having trouble getting a ringer, attempt it on Rathskeller Fork instead. You get two chances per round so keep practising until you get it. Aim with :l2: and make sure the middle of the horseshoe is aiming straight at the pole, then move the :rs: down then up and try to stop at the middle line. If done correctly you will hit the pole with your horseshoe. Sometimes I would have a perfect throw that still wouldn't hit the pole so it does take some luck.

Knock someone out with melee in every saloon in the game in Single Player.

There are a total of 7 saloons in the game and you can fight anyone as long as it's inside the saloon. Make sure you knock someone out a few times just to make sure you've done it correctly. Equip your fists with :l1:, lock onto an enemy with :l2: and swing with :r2:. Keep swinging until you've knocked them out cold onto the floor, if others decide to interfere then don't hesitate to KO them as well. The 7 saloon locations are:

  • Rathskeller Fork - Located in New Austin.
  • Thieves' Landing - Located in New Austin.

19.jpg  Buckin' Awesome (B)

Break the Kentucky Saddler, the American Standardbred, and the Hungarian Half-bred.

All three horses can only be found in specific locations. If you aren't sure if you already broken one of them then check a general store, if you are able to purchase any of the three horses then it means you've already broken (tamed) it.

It's rare but this trophy can sometimes glitch and not unlock when you meet the requirements. It seems that when you first break the Kentucky Saddler in the "Wild Horses, Tamed Passions" mission, it does not count for this trophy. To fix this just go south of MacFarlane's Ranch to break it again.

  • The Kentucky Saddler is actually quite common in McFarlane's Ranch and you will probably break one early on in the game. It has a white face and is a brown, black or light brown horse.
  • Hungarian Half-Bred can be only found in Mexico and is common around the Diez Coronas area. Usually travels with other horses. It's a little bigger than other horse's and it's greyish white with a dark face.
  • American Standardbred is all black and a little bigger than other horses. It looks really healthy compared to most horses and you will instantly recognize it during the day. It can be found all across Beecher's Hope and the Great Plains area.

20.jpg  Clemency Pays (B)

Capture a bounty alive.

To be able to get this trophy you will need the Lasso which you unlock after the "Wild Horses, Tamed Passions" mission and complete the "Political Realities in Armadillo" mission to unlock bounty missions. You can find bounty missions in large towns including Armadillo, Chaparosa, Escalera and Blackwater. They will be marked with a skull icon on your map. You can either accept a bounty with the :triangle: button or decline it with the :circle: button. Once you accept a bounty, a red skull will appear on your map with the bounty location. Every bounty will be surrounded by his gang so take them out to make the bounty easier by leaving him for last.

Equip your Lasso by bringing up the weapon wheel by holding :l1: and aim it by locking onto an enemy with :l2:, get close to the enemy, release with :r2: then hogtie him with :triangle:. Pick him up with :triangle: and call your horse, then place the bounty on your horse then ride to the jail. Be careful while taking him to the jail as 3 enemies will be after you at any given time.

30.jpg  Dastardly (B)(H)

Place a hogtied woman on the train tracks, and witness her death by train.

Get a woman, you can find them anywhere but if you're having a hard time finding one then go to the nearest town e.g. Armadillo. Equip your Lasso by bringing up the weapon wheel (hold :l1:) and aim it by locking onto a woman in the street with :l2:, get close to the lady then release the Lasso with :r2: and hogtie her with :triangle:. Place her on your horse and ride to McFarlane's Ranch, there will be a train station there. Wait for the train to arrive and stop, place the woman on the train tracks and move out of the way and enjoy the show. Just make sure the camera angle is looking at the woman or her death won't count.

If this trophy does not unlock then attempt it again by using the opposite train as there are two different colored trains i.e one blue and one red. If the trophy did not unlock by using the red train to run over the victim, try using the opposite train i.e blue.

For more information on this possible glitch, please refer to this link: Dastardly Trophy Glitch.

Purchase a rare weapon from a gunsmith.

There are only 5 "rare" weapons in the game, buy any one of these and this trophy is yours. You can buy weapons from the gunsmith stores all over the game (locate the gun icon). The 5 rare weapons are as follows.

  • Mauser Pistol $800 - Located in Blackwater.
  • Evans Repeater $1000 - Located in Blackwater.
  • Semi Automatic Shotgun $1000 - Located in Escalera.
  • Carcano Rifle $1100 - Located in Blackwater.
  • LeMat Revolver $1250 - Located in Escalera.

23.jpg  Bearly Legal (B)

Kill and skin 18 grizzly bears.

Once you get to the end of the game you will be able to hunt Bears in the Tall Trees area. The best spot I found was by Nekoti Rock. Bears can kill you in 2 hits so I recommend you use Dead Eye when up close, along with a shotgun. Bears also usually take one or two shots to kill. Be careful when skinning a bear because there might be more in the area, when you're skinning an animal you can't run away and can still get hurt. Skin 18 bears and the trophy is yours.

24.jpg  He Cleans Up Well! (B)

Obtain the Elegant Suit.

You can purchase the Elegant Suit in the Tailor in Thieves' Landing for $70. It is only available after you complete the "Bear One Another's Burdens" mission.

25.jpg  More than a Fistful (B)

Earn $10,000 in Single Player.

Finding gold from all treasure hunting challenges gives you tons of money, as does selling skinned animals. Buffalo and Bear skins are worth a lot of money if you sell them in Escalera. This trophy is cumulative meaning you do not need $10,000 all at once so feel free to spend as much money as you want.

You can also play Five Finger Fillet to earn quick cash. You can find Five Finger Fillet in several locations e.g Armadillo. Always bet the max which is $100 and play 4 rounds with 3 different players. Each round earns you $200 in total.

26.jpg  Frontiersman (B)

Obtain Legendary rank in any Single Player Ambient Challenge.

There are four types of Ambient Challenges throughout the game, with every challenge having 10 ranks. After you've completed rank 10 on any of the 4 challenges, the trophy will unlock. The four challenges are as follows.

  • Master Hunter - Activate by skinning a Coyote.
  • Treasure Hunter - Activate by having a random encounter with a stranger (Blue icon on map) that is being attacked somehow by bandits. After you've helped the stranger he will give you his treasure map.
  • Survivalist - Activate by picking a Wild Feverfew.
  • Sharpshooter - Activate by shooting a Bird.

For specific details on all ambient challenges and ranks, click on the link to the Challenges Guide HERE.

27.jpg  The Gunslinger (S)

Score a headshot on any enemy using Expert targeting mode.

Go to the options menu by pressing :start: then from options, go to Config and change your targeting settings to Expert. Get close up to an enemy, use Dead Eye on them and score a headshot.

28.jpg  Man of Honor / Chivalry's Dead (B)

Attain highest Fame rank and either highest Honor rank or lowest Honor rank.

Fame builds up by doing missions, side missions, killing civilians, completing challenges, pretty much anything and it can never go down. Honor is affected on your actions and decisions throughout the game. Getting low Honor is a lot easier than getting it high so if you're having trouble building up your Honor, make a new save and start killing everyone on sight. Once your Fame's as high as it can be and your Honor is as low as it can get, the trophy will unlock.

29.jpg  Gold Medal (B)

Earn a Gold Medal Rank for a combat mission in Single Player.

You need to get a Gold Medal in any mission in the game as long as it has every challenge; time, accuracy and headshots. Go to the main menu by pressing :start: then go to the stats menu, from there go to missions and choose any mission that has these three requirements. The easiest mission I found was "Old Swindler Blues". All you have to do is get 4 headshots on the 4 enemies without missing. It might sound hard but if you get really close to every enemy, activate Dead Eye then this shouldn't be a problem. The mission takes about 2 minutes to complete.

21.jpg  Manifest Destiny (B)(H)

Kill the last buffalo in the Great Plains in Single Player.

The best place I've always seen buffalo is South East of Blackwater. They always travel in a group and it's almost impossible to kill every buffalo without any of them fleeing in one go. Whenever you kill a buffalo every other buffalo will flee from you. Don't sweat it though because once you have killed a buffalo they never respawn as there only are 20 in the whole game. Once you've killed the last buffalo the trophy will unlock. Try not to have a few buffalo left to kill as it is easier to spot a larger group. Should the stray buffalo run in all directions and escape, leave the area to have them respawn in the general vicinity of where you last found them.

32.jpg  Friends in High Places (B)

Use a pardon letter with more than $5000 bounty in Single Player.

Luckily a $5000 bounty can be easily achieved if you keep saving your progress after every $1000 or so. Go to Blackwater and climb the ladder that's behind the Theater, there will be another ladder that you have to climb after that to get to the roof. Once you're on the roof go straight and look to your left, there's a roof of a lower building you can jump to from the ledge, climb up the ledge and jump off it. Once you're on this roof start shooting everything in sight. Make sure you have lots of ammo and create a new save for this as it will bring your Honor down and make everyone scared of you.

Note: That if you use a bandana, your honor won't go down, so wear one if you're attempting to keep high honors afterwards.

You can keep saving your game as long as every bounty hunter is killed so you don't have to get $5000 in one go. Once you've reached a $5000 bounty use a pardon letter at the Telemarket station just down the street from the building in Blackwater, then the trophy will unlock. You get pardon letters every time you complete a gang hideout but you can only have 5 at any given time. When attempting this trophy, you will want to also go for the Heading South on a White Bronco trophy at the same time. You need to kill at least 20 sheriffs before the US Marshals are after you.

33.jpg  Redeemed (G)

Attain 100% in the Single Player Game Completion stat.

Since of June 19th, 2014, Rockstar no longer supports the Rockstar Social Club website, so you are no longer able to keep track of your 100% progress. This makes the trophy much harder to earn. However, I have provided a list of everything that you need to reach 100% and earn Redeemed. To make this easier, you can check off every requirement using the Red Dead Redemption 100% Checklist. With this spreadsheet, you can manually track your progress.

Huge thanks and full credit goes to Barra333 for creating the spreadsheet.

There are 11 different categories that you need to complete in order to attain 100% in the game. Outfits (9)

There are 9 outfits in the game that require you to unlock several pieces to an outfit, that are needed towards your 100%. Most of them you have to do specific tasks like buying a piece of clothing from a tailor. Here's a rundown of each outfit:

U.S. Army Uniform

To unlock this outfit you must complete the mission "The Last Enemy That Shall Be Destroyed".

  • Scrap 1 – Search inside a cabin for a chest in Aurora Basin. It's by the river and there will usually be a hitched horse or two near the cabin. Be careful as there are cougars around this area.
  • Scrap 2 - Win at Arm Wrestling in the Pacific Union Railroad Camp. You must defeat every player that challenges you in order for it to count.

  • Scrap 4 - Successfully Complete the Stranger mission "Lights, Camera, Action".
  • Scrap 5 - Successfully complete a Nightwatch job in Blackwater.
  • Scrap 6 - Purchase the Scrap needed from the Tailor in Blackwater.

U.S. Marshall Outfit

To get this outfit you need to complete every U.S. Hideout within 24 hours (in-game time). This isn't available until you've completed the last mission "The Last Enemy that Shall be Destroyed".

Possibly Glitched

The Marshal Uniform can glitch and not unlock after doing the hideouts in 24hrs. There may be a solution by replaying "The Last Enemy that Shall be Destroyed" then redoing the hideouts in 24hrs. Credit goes to GoTp for this info.

Before you attempt this make sure you've already cleared every hideout as completing them again will have easier tasks than on your first run. Also, Solomon's Folly does not need to be completed.

You will want to complete the hideout's in this specific order.

  • 1 - Bike's Basin
  • 2 - Twin Rocks
  • 3 - Tumbleweed
  • 4 - Gaptooth Breach

Some of these might include saving a Stage Coach being attacked by the gang or saving someone's wife from them.

  • Solomon's Folly - This is located just South of Benedict Pass and is a PS3 exclusive hideout. Despite it being exclusive it's still required for the 100%.
  • Twin Rocks - This is located just north of Armadillo. You will see two big rocks on the map.
  • Tumbleweed - This is located just South of Gaptooth Ridge. It's a deserted town.

Strangers (18)

There are 18 "Stranger" tasks in the game that need to be completed to count towards your 100%. The Stranger mission "I Know You" however does not need to be completed as it can be missable. For a complete list of Stranger locations, please refer to the People are Still Strange trophy.

Mini Games (6)

There are 6 Mini Games that need to be completed to count towards your 100%. You must win in all of these games and defeat all players that are available in order for it to count. The following games are as follows.

  • Five Finger Fillet
  • Arm Wrestling
  • Black Jack
  • Horseshoes
  • Liar's Dice
  • Poker

Bounty Locations (20)

You must complete 20 bounties. There are actually 40 bounties in the game but only 20 are needed for this trophy, however you need to complete at least 8 in New Austin, 8 in Mexico and 4 in West Elizabeth. You can keep track of all the bounties that you've completed by going to the main menu and going to stats.

Please refer to On The Trail of de Vaca for more details.

34.jpg  Spurred to Victory (B)(H)

Complete 20 story missions without switching to a new horse at a hitching post.

THIS TROPHY IS MISSABLE!

To avoid missing this trophy, do NOT hitch any other horse except your current one. It's okay to break and ride other horses as long as you don't hitch another one or use a deed for a new horse. If your horse happens to die then pause and go to the main menu, then load last save. When you finish 20 story missions with the same horse and the trophy unlocks, you can hitch other horses and let them die if they happen to.

The only time your 20 story missions stack using a different horse is after earning the Kentucky Saddler. Meaning that after earning the Kentucky Saddler, your 20 story missions won't reset as long as you don't hitch your horse. You have a ton of story missions to attempt this as there are 57 total missions. However it would be wise to earn this early on to ensure you'll always have enough attempts to earn this trophy.

If you don't hitch a horse early on, this should unlock after you complete the "Let the Dead Bury Their Dead" mission and before you reach Mexico.

If you do hitch your horse by accident early on do not worry, just make sure not to hitch a horse after you complete "Father Abraham" as there won't be enough missions to attempt this anymore.

It's also very important that you hitch your horse at least once to register the horse that will attempt on completing 20 story missions.

35.jpg  Heading South on a White Bronco (B)(H)

Evade the US Marshals while riding the Hungarian Half-Bred horse in Single Player.

Attempt this at the same time as going for the Friends in High Places trophy.

First things first, you need to get the Hungarian Half-Bred horse which can be found in the Diez Coronas area. It's bigger than most horses and is all grey. When you get this horse make sure it's your main horse by hitching it or buying the deed for it. You will also need to have US Marshals after you and you have to kill at least least 20 sheriffs to make them appear. If you're attempting this at the same time as getting the $5000 bounty then chances are you will get the rare evil black horse that is given to you for having low Honor, use the deed of a Hungarian Half-Breed and flee the area. To make this easier, kill every US Marshal but have one alive and chasing you. As soon as you escape, the trophy will unlock.

36.jpg  Mowing Them Down (S)

Kill 500 enemies with a mounted weapon in any game mode.

There are plenty of ways to get this trophy, the first method is the most time consuming but also the safest method without dying. Go to El Matadero and climb the ladder by the safehouse that's available to purchase. Use the mounted Maxim Gun on the roof and kill every civilian in sight. The cool thing is that you won't get any bounty so the sheriffs won't be after you and the civilians keep respawning. Keep killing people until the trophy unlocks. You can view your mounted weapon stats in the main menu.

The other method is by playing online, host a private game and head to El Presidio in Mexico. Get your bounty up by shooting at one of the TNT barrels that's inside the place to make sheriff's go after you. Use the cannon on the left of the north side entrance and kill every sheriff that's after you. Do this until the trophy unlocks.

If you have the Undead Nightmare DLC then you can unlock this trophy in about 20 minutes using the same El Presidio method. You must unlock Mexico in Undead Nightmare by completing missions. Refer to the video below for a visual walkthrough:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-7bFD4CbNI

37.jpg  In a Hail of Bullets (S)

Kill 500 enemies with any pistol or revolver in any game mode.

As the description says, get 500 kills with any pistol in any game mode, meaning get 500 kills offline or online as they are not cumulative between them. This trophy will come naturally, however, if it doesn't unlock before you beat the game then use a pistol in Multiplayer as you need to reach Level 50 anyway. All pistols and revolvers count towards this trophy. If you decide to get this trophy online then your single player kills won't count. Kill 500 enemies with small firearms and the trophy will unlock.

38.jpg  Long Arm of Marston (S)

Kill 500 enemies with any rifle, repeater, or shotgun in any game mode.

Just like the previous trophy this should come naturally, however if it doesn't, kill 500 enemies with any rifle until the trophy unlocks. Getting this online won't count unless you get 500 kills with any rifle in Multiplayer. Clearing Hideouts is a good place to farm kills.

39.jpg  Bullseye (B)

Get 250 headshots in any game mode.

Use Dead Eye to make headshots easier and buy lots of chewing tobacco if needed. Get 250 headshots and the trophy is yours. The best way to farm kills is by clearing Hideouts.

40.jpg  Unnatural Selection (B)

Kill one of every animal species in the game in any game mode.

There are 27 different animal species in the game that you must kill in order for this trophy to unlock. You can view all the animals you've skinned, in the main menu under stats.

This trophy is also possibly glitched because some of the animals are possibly not required for this trophy on the PS3 version like buffalo and songbirds. It is highly recommended you skin animals and pick feathers to keep progress of what you've killed, as killing animals does not keep track on your stats. Buffalo and songbirds are potentially not needed for this trophy, so save the songbird for last if it hasn't unlocked after killing all the required animals. Buffalo are required for the Manifest Destiny trophy so you need to kill a buffalo anyway. The following is the list of all the animals needed to be killed.

  • Armadillos - Can be found around the town of Armadillo.
  • Beaver - Can be found by rivers at the very North end of the Great Plains area (shoot with pistols or they will explode).
  • Bighorn Sheep - Can be found in and around Bearclaw Camp.
  • Boar - Can be found just South of Blackwater.

To make this easier, you can use the Red Dead Redemption 100% Checklist. With this spreadsheet, you can manually track your progress.

Huge thanks and full credit goes to Barra333 for creating the spreadsheet.

41.jpg  Have Gun Will Travel (S)

Complete all Hideouts in a single public Free Roam session.

You must complete all 8 Hideouts (including Solomon's Folly) in one session, meaning you can't go to a different Free Roam session. When you complete the final Hideout you need, the trophy will unlock.

42.jpg  Slow on the Draw (B)

Get 10 assists in a single Hideout in a public Free Roam session.

Bandit Hideout's are marked with a bandit face icon on the map. Try joining an active Free Roam session that has a lot of players to make this easier. Clear a hideout with other players and let them get every kill by purposely shooting every enemy in the leg. You will know if you got an assist whenever you get 200xp. Do this 10 times and the trophy will unlock. If you are having trouble with this trophy head over to the Red Dead Redemption Boosting Thread.

43.jpg  Hit the Trail (B)

Get from Blackwater to Escalera before sundown in a public Free Roam session.

As the description says, get from Blackwater to Escalera before sundown in a public Free Roam session. To be safe join a friendly Free Roam session that way people won't be able to mess with you. Start at Blackwater and wait for it to be the break of dawn, have a mark going to Escalera so you already have a route. When the sun comes up, travel to Escalera. It's a long ride but if you travel with no stops anywhere else you should get to Escalera with a lot of time to spare before sundown.

44.jpg  Posse Up! (B)

Create a posse and get the maximum number of members.

This trophy can be a pain to get without boosting. Keep playing Gang Hideouts with others and invite them to a posse. Playing with them will most likely get them to join. The larger your posse, the more likely random people will want to join. Be the leader of a full posse (8 people) and the trophy will unlock.

To invite a player, press :select: while in multiplayer and while on the multiplayer menu, press :r1: to view "Players" menu in the lobby, then highlight a player and press :cross: on "Propose New Posse" to send an invite.

To find boosting partners please refer to the Red Dead Redemption Boosting Thread.

45.jpg The Quick and Everyone Else... (S)

Be the top scoring player in any three consecutive FFA games in public matches.

FFA stands for "Free For All". There are 2 FFA modes that count towards this trophy i.e Goldrush and Shootout.

This trophy can be a pain as you have to be the highest scoring player (have to win 3 times in a row). Practice your headshots, getting 1 hit kills can make you almost immortal. Gold Rush is better than shootout since your chances are semi fair if you're new to the online.

If you wish to boost this trophy then head over to the Red Dead Redemption Boosting Thread.

46.jpg  How the West Was Won (S)

Reach the top rank for multiplayer experience.

This will most likely be your last trophy as it takes quite a while to reach level 50. To reach level 50 you need approximately 337,110 XP. Take advantage of Triple XP weekends, clear Hideouts and just have fun. If you want to boost XP on your own the best place is clearing Tesoro Azul or Solomon's Folly, if you want to play with a friend then the best place is Pike's Basin.

When playing Solomon's Folly solo, make sure to play in a Friendly Free Roam session, that way people playing online can't kill you. This hideout can be done in less than 2 minutes once you learn the respawns. There are only 32 gang members to take out and if you chain all 32 members, you get about 800 XP per every run with the latest patch and 2,200 XP without the patch.

Any XP that you earn from the Undead Nightmare DLC also counts for this trophy so you may play that if you wish.

Note: If you have an original release copy of Red Dead Redemption, then you can delete the latest patch (v1.07) and play offline in a LAN lobby. You will get triple the XP than you normally would. Digital copies of the game and the GOTY edition have this patch pre-installed so there is no possible way to delete it, only the original copy has this option.

If you do decide to take this route and delete the patch, then take a look at this guide for the best possible way to boost offline, credit goes to Eternal21: Level 1 to 50 in 8 hours.

Also note that deleting this patch will reset your stats offline, so make sure you delete the patch before you play online whilst signed into PSN. Re-installing the patch, however, does not reset your online stats.

47.jpg  Go Team! (S)

Be on the winning team for four consecutive victories in any team based game in public matches.

Unlike The Quick and Everyone Else... this trophy requires you to win 4 times in a row, however, if you're on a good team your chances of winning are better. There's 3 game modes on gang matches. Gang Shootout, Hold your Own and Grab the Bag. If you're a decent player I would recommend Gang Shootout as it only takes skill to win. Try to posse up with friends to make this easier.

If you wish to boost this trophy head over to the Red Dead Redemption Boosting Thread.

48.jpg  Most Wanted (B)

Become a Public Enemy for 10 minutes and escape alive in a public Free Roam session.

The best place to do this is in the saloon in Armadillo. Make sure you are doing this in a Friendly Free Roam Session, that way no one can kill you when you're the Public Enemy. Climb the stairs to the second floor of the saloon and go outside to the balcony. Go to the East side of the balcony and climb onto the roof of the saloon. Shoot anything in sight like horses, civilians and sheriffs. Once you've reached the $1000 bounty you will be the Public Enemy. Hide by the sign and crouch. It's impossible for anyone to kill you. If your wanted meter is going down, make sure to shoot someone. Do this for 10 minutes and hide behind the sign until you lose your wanted level. I found it best to look at the time right after you become the Public Enemy and wait at least 11 minutes just to be safe.

Also see this quote from GoTp:

GoTp said:
Once you become a Public Enemy you don't need to keep your Wanted Meter full, it's about staying alive 10 minutes as a Public Enemy and not 10 minutes as a Public Enemy with a full Wanted Meter.

This is how I did it by getting to $1000 and becoming a Public Enemy and escaping the wanted area. Once 10 minutes went by the trophy popped and there was no need to exit to the outfitter.

There is another solo method on how to get this trophy by staying alive for 10 minutes and exiting the outfitter afterwards from the main menu. Credit goes to Eternal21 for the find.

Here is the visual walkthrough: credit goes to

49.jpg  Red Dead Rockstar (B)

Kill a Rockstar or someone with this Trophy in a public multiplayer match.

This trophy is quite simple just kill someone that has it. Go into a public Free For All match and kill everyone, someone is bound to have this trophy. If you are having trouble finding someone that has this trophy, then you can head over to the Red Dead Redemption Boosting Thread.

Amazing guide, I like it! Lots of great detail, particularly with the outfits and challenges guide. And I love me a "in this step you will earn" Roadmap :p

Excellent job WenchBear, good luck with it :)

You can add a link to my leveling up thread to your "How The West Was Won" Trophy section:

Maybe include the boosting methods for Go Team! and The Quick and Everyone Else? Otherwise a great guide:applause:

Indeed. I did mine with just one other person (my alt account in fact), by simply starting the game and kicking anyone who tried to join.

What would be the point in that? She already descibes the method and where to do it in a more concise manner. The only thing you have that she doesn't is the precise locations of where the soldiers appear in Twin Rocks (which, for the record, I found inferior to Solomon's Folly anyway), which by the 10th reptition you will know the exact locations of anyway.

While your guide is pretty good, I don't see what's wrong with the previous one? I think that was pretty good at explaining stuff? Or is that just me?

She'd already written it for another site and transferred it over. All guides can be improved, and I believe this one (particularly the Roadmap) is superior, and some of the trophy descriptions, whilst similar, offer slightly more information (particularly the 100% completion one).

Huh? Please tell me you're not being serious. If that's all you got from my thread, then I suggest you work on your reading comprehension skills...

I'll add your guide to my guide, thank you.

A boosting method is always welcomed.

The sticky is not updated on a handful of trophies that i won't mention, but that's for the GT to decide.

No I'm deadly serious, they're really helpful as a checklist. Everytime I finish a main step in a game I always check the Roadmap of the guide if they've got that feature in it to see I've got every single trophy I should have by that point. Check my own guides, they all have "in this step you should have earned..." in :)

Step 3: Single Player Sweep-up

Here you will get any Single Player trophies you have not acquired during steps 1 and 2, most likely by doing specific task's like fighting in saloons for Fightin' Around the World or playing Horseshoes for What About Hand Grenades?. Refer to each trophy description to find a method to unlock whatever remains in SP before moving on to Multiplayer.

In this step, you wtill unlock the following trophies

Typo kill it with fire :fire:

I think it sucks ;).

I find this guide 100% better than the old one. Everything i need to know to be able to get the platinum is right there. No need for me to go around the forum looking for tips for a single trophy. I'll use this guide to plat RDR again on my alt account. :) This was such a great game, the ending made me cry. I was sick for about a week lol.
