I'm using this thread to rant narcissistically as I play this splendid game. Please be aware of unintentional 3rd degree spoilers. I'll try my best to be nondescript and vague about non-obvious storyline events.
I am not really sure this has started becoming a "hard" game or not, but it really melts my mind as to how much of my butt it has been kicking so far. I'm still not finished with the first generation normal play! It started about at the second "real" boss battle. "Oh, hello, flying boss sir!" By the third round, my entire team was ANNIHILATED. So I worked on training a bit, as well as spending a little more time with the adventurer's and blacksmith's guilds, eventually enhancing and breaking down a few items to put on my extra slots. The battles are very long, and I get the feeling I will be playing this game for at least a couple months to come. But the work isn't without reward! I (presumably) finished the final battle of the first generation just before work, after having again to train for about four hours in addition to visiting the guilds and knocking out as much as I could while spending the least amount of gold and points... I only ended up gaining one level on everyone, but I did enhance four sledgehammers to get the +140 defense points, which I added to Eugene and Galios. Considering how quickly my party was annihilated before the training, I figured I'd be turned quickly into laughing stock, yet by SOME MIRACLE, my party prevailed, only minutes before having to leave for work! It was a good feeling, and I can't wait to jump back into it. Anyway, just wanted to rant a bit. I'm sure it won't be my last. Last edited by R353ARCH D35TROY; 07-26-2011 at 03:35 PM. |

Personally I haven't even enhanced a single weapon yet and i'm just passed the Beach scene in Generation 1. Good equipment for each character on each of the 3 slots they all have, lots of AP, and just raising all of the other Stats for each character goes a long way.
So I usually end up overkilling a lot of enemies with my combos with each ally that's on the battlefield. I will admit that I bought some of the DLC, but am trying to save those points. I do however use the weapons that you can get with the DLC. Last edited by Shuffle; 07-24-2011 at 09:02 AM. |

Ahhh... yeah that could very well be my hurdle. I'm trying to save the DLC until the extra mode. I just don't want them to take anything away!
I have to make sure I make many different save files. During one of the "series of battles," I accidentally and excitedly saved over my most recent save. It was actually during the second actual boss fight that I mentioned above. The first time I couldn't beat it! Luckily I made the mistake after training a bit, and I was strong enough to press on. It could have been a huge disaster! I do have a lot of EP and PP, but not nearly enough TP as I'd like. Couple more hours and I can press on! Pardon my excitement. |

Have you grabbed any of the free DLC from the store? Even if you are skimming by with a budget, you should still be able to grab all the free stuff that the store offers. That way, your party can stand a fighting chance in certain areas. Overkill and winning more bonuses is the key to beating the major bosses and future nutty bosses.
Their is no shame of getting a few perks when it comes to this game. Last edited by Materick; 07-24-2011 at 08:12 PM. |

Grade at the end of the battles is determined by how many turns it took to win. The bonuses you get depend on your level.
Overkilling is guaranteed to net you an item though, so it's always worthwhile to do it if possible, especially on bosses (even more so in digest for the rare and limited Proof of Valors). |
