No more of this "getting overwhelmed, need to run away" kinda playing that you had in the forst. The combat feels alot more refined to me! |

Just finished the game, pretty good! I enjoyed it. I played on the easiest difficulty setting and had no problems at all. It was almost too easy, actually. It was nice, though. It gave me the opportunity to do pretty much whatever I wanted during combat.
The game was rather repetitive, but earning new abilities kept things from getting too boring. I like how they handled this game. |

Also the skills... where the hell is ability to use commanders artillery strikes? Where is ability to accuse others of being infected? Where is the ability that made you a friggin whrilwind when running throwing cars and trucks away by the sheer speed of your character? Where are the thermobaric units (apart from one mission)? On top of that in P1 the NYC was changing as the time was passing and infection was spreading, here you just have 3 zones that stay the same throughout the whole game time. Overall I had fun playing this game but looking at it as sequel it didn't deliver. Last edited by ShadowStrife; 04-29-2012 at 04:46 PM. |

Now that I've wrapped up my first playthrough, my overall impressions are that this is a better game than the first one... but not by much, because certain elements were actually better in the first game.
The story and main protagonist were, in my opinion, definitely better in the first game. Beyond that, they've streamlined the gameplay and the mission structure a bit to keep it from ever getting too repetitive, which I appreciated. Sure, the controls still aren't perfect, but with the new defensive abilities, you feel slightly more in control during the fights. The one thing I really missed in Prototype 2 was a truly epic mission against a truly epic boss. The first game had about three tough but awesome battles that I still vividly remember spending about an hour on. Prototype 2 doesn't have that. The Goliath is a cool enemy, sure, but too easily beaten. And the final boss battle is good, but ultimately slightly disappointing in terms of scale.

Do not get me wrong Prototype was a good game but the graphic's where a let down, I could never really get into Prototype because of that. Prototype 2's graphics are a lot better and they suit the game, I think they done a really good job of Prototype 2 Graphic's, the new moves and the story how it's done in Sin City Black & white with the Red. And I love how you can be at the Main Menu with no loading it takes you right back into your game, and the Rednet is a smart move.

![]() I also miss the careful approaches when entering bases and stuff like that. Even the viral scanners are never near your targets, I can always just get into a uniform and walk right up to the targets on and in the bases. That's super lame, even the bonus requirements were a joke in that regard. There were many moments in the first game when you actually had to check the surroundings, plan a proper approach ect. for infiltrating bases or reach certain targets ... not so in Prototype 2. Oftentimes, it doesn't even matter whether you start an alert or not.
