Game won't even start

Hi all - I know this is now OLD and the servers are shut but I got this for £2 so thought I'd try it out. I put the game in and it said there was an update (1.03) so I let it update and all I get is a row of flashing stars in the bottom left courner of the screen?? the game won't load. I read somewhere to delete the gamesave data so I tried that and I get the same thing?? I have never had a game not even load before! Anyone else with the same problem - or a solution?? I've ordered PES 2011 too but am now a bit worried!!
