What does it mean by not being seen?

Ok here´s my dilema... I played through did the steps this other fellow posted didn´t work out.. OK my question really is what does it mean not to be seen.. as in the red arrows showing up or the x button appearing when they catch you I´m ultra confused please help asap.

Ive just this second got my Trophy for this. Here is the way i did it.

Start a new game on "guppy"

When your playing at it comes up Press to continue.

Press Start and click "Quit to Main Menu" then click continue on main menu of game and it will reload save.

NOTE: Press to Continue only comes up when you get spotted by a guard or if you mess up a Button Combo.

OK will try last time i did that though it kinda didnt work but lets see with a fresh game the first time it came up i re launched the whole game

No. You only have been spotted if the "X Continue" comes up. BUT! Fights don't count. If you lose in a fight with QTE (Quick Time Events), you can press X to continue.

What I did was play the game again on Guppy, whenever I got caught, I would press my PS button and go to my XMB and quit out of the game.

Those red arrows dont count as 'being seen'.

Man are you serious I have been starting over and over again just because of the arrow are you 100% sure?

why is this trophy a big deal? just quit to main menu whenever you get caught even by snipers in CH4 or spot lights then you will have your trophy

You will get this trophy for completing all chapters without being seen. It can be obtained on all difficulties, but I highly recommend playing on Guppy, as guards are less inclined to find you/spot you.

So what counts as being seen?

The small red arrows that appear when you are near an enemy does not mean you have been seen. You are only seen when a guard stops, the screen goes grey, and it is game over. You will be asked to press to continue. Instead just quit the game using the button, and then re-launch. You may have to repeat the section again, especially if you are playing chapter 7.

I can confirm this as I received the platinum last night, and on several occasions I had 2 or even 3 red arrows on me for a brief moment. But because I was quick to hide/move, the guard's/janitors didn't actually spot me.


So just continue playing until you get a game over; quit, then re-launch and try the section you failed again without getting caught. The trophy pops up within the first few seconds of the end-game credits.
