Default PoP 1 Tip & Series Question

I've only played one other PoP game, and that was the latest one; The Forgotten Sands. So, I'm asking for a tip from all you vets out there. What's the best way to kill the blue colored sand men with long spears? I'm half way through the game, and they are extremely difficult to kill. Any tips are appreciated!

Also, are the second and third PoP games better than the Sands of Time? So far, I'm not liking this one compared to The Forgotten Sands. I truly loved that game, but this first one is very frustrating. I'd like to hear your opinion on how The Sands of Time stacks up against the other two downloadable games, and if they are worth it since I'm not enjoying this one. Thanks.

Stand next to a wall and press 'X' to kick off it, then very quickly press 'Square' to initiate a diving attack. Weirdly nobody around you will try to attack you after this move if you then press 'Triangle' to absorb your target's sand straight away.

Once you know this I'll be surprised if you ever die again during combat

I loved Sands of Time back in the day and everybody always harps on about how it's the best in the series; how it will never be matched and so on. For my money, Forgotten Sands actually improved a great number of frustrating features and stands above the rest as the best example of its type (if still a little flawed).

Warrior Within is more angsty and action-oriented, although the combat's slightly improved in line with that. Two Thrones is kind of a mish-mash of the two. It has stealth attacks and so on, but apart from the instances where they're part of the platforming, they feel somewhat tacked-on.

If you're not enjoying this prequel trilogy so far I'd at least get to the end of SoT and start Warrior Within. By then you'll have a better idea of whether it's worth your time and how much you're likely to enjoy it.

Thanks for your reply, AmplifiedAnt. I appreciate your time and your response. I’ll definitely try the wall attack. I noticed it in the ‘visions’, but didn’t know how to perform it.

I hope I enjoy this game soon, for it’s truly frustrating for some reason. As I said, and you seemed to agree, Forgotten Sands was a really good game. I’d hate to go away from the series over this first game.

I will take advice and try to plow through the first game, and try out ‘Warriors’.

One more question. Did you, or anyone else who wishes to reply, enjoy the Prince of Persia game that came out prior to The Forgotten Sands? I don’t know if this PS3 game has a subtitle. How does it rank with the others?

I liked it and sort of prefer that gamplay style for some reason. The only sucky part was them light seeds. There was some parts my counter wasn't counting them untill I got the last few then it would jump up to the correct count. It was a good change from the PS2 trilogy I was used too.

The prince of persia prior to the forgotten sands was in my opinion sertanly not the strongest game in the series. Though it had a whole new look and the prince had a few new tricks up his sleeve, it just didnt had the PoP magic about it.

The gap between the two thrones and next game was very wide. Both in story and visuals. And there where no puzzels in this game. (as far as i remember)

However this was corrected when the forgotten sands came out. The forgotten sands was a worthy follow upper of the first three games.

I really enjoyed the first PS3 PoP.

One thing I noticed, Sands of Time and Forgotten Sands seems to be the same game, onlt FS is better, IMHO. It seems they took SoT and added some different bosses, and better controls, then re-named it.

I too noticed the similarities between Sands of Time and the Forgotten Sands. I truly enjoyed the Forgotten Sands. It was a fun, relaxing game, where as the Sands of Time was a little frustrating for me.

So far it looks like two votes for and one agains the first PoP PS3 game. Maybe I'll hold off on that (but play it), and try the Two Thrones or Warrior PSN game. I was just debating on buying the first PoP PS3 game first or try the other two PSN games.

Thanks for your suggestions!
