Story: 9 - I was excited to try it not being familiar with the first past cake jokes and I never felt confused or left out of some important info. I grew to love each character, laughing and even get emotional at times. Entertaining & very interesting.
Gameplay: 8 - Certain puzzles can be frustrating. Controls: 8 - Comfortable & Simple Graphics: 9 - I absolutely loved the graphics of this game, each environment was so beatiful. Sound: 9 - I LOVE the music in this game. Wow Factor: 10 - Just wow. Replay Value: 7 - Playing through it again would be just as entertaining as the first time if not more so and going back to a specific puzzle to try a different way or just to play around would be great. (I have only played through it once but I would do it again no problem, typing this makes me want to play it.) Multiplayer Experience: 8 - The replay value on this is high. So much fun, and perfect for hanging out whether it's with a friend, a PS friend, or just a random online. There is some good teamwork needed, and that's made easy. It's also so funny. Rent Or Buy This Game? Buy. Your Personal Verdict & Your Final Rating: 10 - This was my overall favorite game of 2011.

Story: I never played the first game so I went into Portal 2 a bit blind. I managed to get into it pretty quickly and really took to the characters. I got hooked on the story after a while. I won't spoil anything but I was genuinely sad at 1 point of the story.
Gameplay: Well, put simply, it is unique and brilliant. Controls: Can't ask for anything more really. Simple and easy to learn. The ping tools and partner view in Coop are great as well. Graphics: Perfectly suitable for the game. I never saw any glitches. The cartoony look of the liquids works well. Sound: Great character voices, great credits song (counts as sound?). No complaints. Wow Factor: The tech is unbelievable. I found myself feeling impressed with the complexity of some of the puzzles. Replay Value: There's definitely lots of fun to be had on Coop with different friends but with the single player I wouldn't be inclined to replay it for a few months to make sure I forget the puzzle solutions. For those who used walkthroughs for some areas like myself, I'll definitly want to complete it with no help. Multiplayer Experience: My only criticism is that it isn't a good game to play with randoms. A friend with a headset is pretty much essential otherwise it will be frustrating. Rent Or Buy This Game?: Buy. Your Personal Verdict & Your Final Rating: I don't want you to think I'm exaggerating or being a fanboy when I give it 10/10. The game really is fantastic. One of my favourite games ever.

Graphics: Layouts are designed to fit the mood perfectly. 5-5 Awesome.
Gameplay: A brilliant puzzler. 5-5 Awesome. Controls: Incredibly easy to learn. 5-5 Awesome. Replay Value: This game suffers from this area because you may remember how some puzzles work. 1-5 Horrid. Challenge: A lot of the puzzles are elaborate and creative enough to make you try to figure it out for quite a while. 5-5 Awesome. Although the game is great, replay value suffers greatly. This game is fun while it last`s. 8/10 Good. |

Bear in mind I've only completed the single player, I'm waiting to find a partner who is willing to go through with no guides, but I feel I'm qualified to write a review for this. I'm not going to give any number ratings but I'll write my thoughts.
Story: The story is fantastic- very well paced, terrific characters that are voiced brilliantly, and just thoroughly entertaining throughout. Gameplay: This is where the game really shines, it's completely unique and a joy to play through. The only problem is that, in single player at least, the puzzles are a bit too easy. The longest I was ever stuck on any puzzle was 10 minutes or so, I would have liked more of a challenge but from what I hear the MP is harder and will make up for that. Controls: They're perfect, as you'd expect, you never need to pull off any kind of precise manoeuvres so it was to be expected that the controls are solid. Sound: Really enjoyed the music, and the character voices are some of the best I've heard in any game, the dialogue is perhaps the best I've heard in a game and it made me laugh out loud on several occasions. Wow Factor: Well since I've never played anything else like this, I guess it rates highly on ''wow factor''. Replay Value: This is the big problem with this game, once you complete a puzzle once, you'll know the solution from then on, a speed run trophy or something along those lines would have been nice. That said I will play through this game again at some stage. Multiplayer Experience: Can't rate this yet, but I expect it'll be good. Rent Or Buy This Game? Buy it. Your Personal Verdict & Your Final Rating: Use the Poll Like I said I wont give this a numbered rating but I will say that it's easily one of my new favourite games on the PS3. A must play. Story: Coming off of the original PORTAL, where there was not much of a story, this was a nice change of pace. The story grabbed me right from the start and did not let go till the very end. 10/10
Gameplay: Fabulous gameplay! 10/10 Controls: Controls will not disappoint. 10/10 Graphics: Considering the age of the source engine, I would originally dock down here, but the way Valve utilized the effects, lighting, edges, and surfaces, it was hard not to marvel. 10/10 Sound (Gameplay): This game has a impressive cast of voice actors. Stephen Merchant steals the show as Wheatley, While JK Simmons pulls off a impressive acting performance of Cave Johnson, Aperture CEO and Founder. 10/10 Sound (Music): One of Valve's overall strong points, I still find myself listening to the entire soundtrack a couple times a day. 10/10 Wow Factor: If saying "Wow" was not enough during the duration of the game, The ending sure had a jaw dropping reaction to it. 10/10 Replay Value: The only bad part, PORTAL 2 is an amazing game but unless you are motivated to go find some secret areas that you didn't find during your first playthrough, there is not much else worth replaying for. 6/10 Multiplayer Experience: The COOP is outstanding! 10/10 Final Comment: If you dont have this game yet...GET IT NOW! |
