the number of hours i've put into UltimateNinja01 is probably mind boggling. at one point, i was playing it every single day for a month straight. all of that was as Ryu, and i've come across many different types of Rachels. this thread is inspired by those Rachels that really piss me off when i'm playing. sure, they know how to hold a twirl, but they do other things, sometimes small and sometimes huge, that really screw up the match and make me wonder wtf they're doing. or not doing. if you're looking to just use Rachel and find somebody to beat UN1 for you as Ryu, you should read this as it might be helpful. and this only applies to UN1's where one person is using Ryu and the other person is Rachel. not for Rachel/Rachel combos, and obviously not for Ryu/Ryu or anything else. an experienced Ryu player can sometimes overcome some of these, and some he might not be able to, but regardless, pretty much all of these are annoying to have happen.
anyway, this is basically a list of 10 things Rachel should or should not do in UN1 if you want to have a successful match. since i've beaten it multiple times before as Ryu, i think i'm somewhat qualified to speak on this. ![]() 1. Thou Shalt Know WTF You're Doing yeah, i know, this one is really basic and could honestly sum up the list as a whole, but seriously....i had a guy once ask me before the match started, "when should i stop twirling?" uhhh, dude.....really? i mean, c'mon, you should at least know what the point of the mission is and the main phases of it. sure, it takes a while to learn the little things and all, but know the mission as a whole. don't just practice your twirl for five minutes and then hop into UN1 without reading up on it or asking a friend about it. 2. Thou Shalt Never Go Left at the Start of the Mission this can be the quickest and most effective way to fuck up a mission. Ryu starts on the left, Rachel on the right, Volf is on Ryu and Liz and Alexei are on Rachel. if you, as Rachel, go left at the start, you're basically inviting Liz and Alexei's AI to switch to Ryu right then and fuck his world up. seriously, just go right and find a nice, safe spot to hang out and twirl. 3. Thou Shalt Never Twirl in the Middle of the Arena the best way to keep the other bosses off Ryu is to keep them as far away from him as possible. sure, some of this falls on Ryu, and he'll occasionally have to lead a boss to a safer spot if he's starting to get too close. but if you're twirling in the middle of the arena, he's ALWAYS too close and there's nothing he can do. it's way too easy for Alexei and Liz to catch Ryu in their AI when you're twirling in the middle of the area. just pick a wall and stick to it. well, since it's a circular area i guess there's only one wall. whatever, just stay next to it! 4. Thou Shalt Stay in One Area When Twirling look, the arena is small enough as it is. especially when you have the tower that is Volf roaming around. when you pick a spot, stay there. Ryu shouldn't turn around and see Alexei or Liz in his face while he's fighting somebody else. this can be really annoying. i was once playing with somebody who had trouble staying in place, so i made it a priority to draw Alexei to a safer area while i was fighting him. i moved away as far as i possibly could, to where we were on the opposite ends. next thing i know, i'm fighting Alexei and Liz and Rachel are literally right next to me. seriously? look, i know twirling isn't always perfect, but when you're taking the bosses on a tour around the arena, you might as well give up and play Hannah Montana or something. 5. Thou Shalt Pay Attention ok, this one might be the most annoying, because it's based on common sense. yet there are Rachels that still fall on their face when it comes to this. look, if you hear Liz doing her blood drain or blood portals and you don't see any of if next to you/under you, don't you think there's a problem? i understand Liz sometimes comes over to Ryu with a couple dashes and then comes back to you, and there's nothing wrong with that. a good Ryu can usually dodge it if he's not in the middle of combo. but if you're twirling and you haven't seen Liz for a full 20 seconds (seriously, i've had Liz on me for that long before dying and my partner apparently didn't realize), there's something wrong. if she's doing blood attacks and they're not near you, do something to rectify the problem! 6. Thou Shalt Know When to Use Ninpo there's only two times Rachel needs to use ninpo. first is if she dies and Ryu revives her. she leads an ultimate ninpo, which puts some/all of the bosses back on her. the other time is if you've made it to Liz and are burning UN's to finish her off. other than that, don't waste it. no, you don't need to do a ninpo if you revive Ryu. there's no point. no, you don't need to use one at the start of the match. if Ryu revives you and if you're using it on Liz at the end; that's it. also, if Ryu revives you and you're going to lead an UN, do it when you stand up. don't run half a lap and take a bathroom break. just do it! 7. Thou Shalt Never Let Ryu Lead an Ultimate Ninpo this kind of ties into the last one, but it's worth pointing out by itself because it's really annoying, plus i need to make sure i get 10 of these commandments. every once in a while Ryu will get himself into a situation that's FUBAR and will need to burn a ninpo to keep from dying (more experienced Ryu's usually won't need to do it, but less experienced ones might). that does NOT mean you need to turn it into an ultimate ninpo. you're basically putting the bosses on him and effectively ending any chance of winning the match. unless you immediately lead an ultimate ninpo after, but even if you do, you've still wasted two of your own and one of Ryu's. again, the only time this doesn't apply is when Liz is the only one left.8. Thou Shalt Not Melee Bosses if you die and Ryu has to revive you, it's great if you know that you have to get the bosses back on you, but don't risk both your lives by doing melee attacks! as commandment #6 said, know when to use your ninpo. i remember one match where i revived a Rachel, and instead of her leading an UN (we both had two ninpo apiece), she starts trying to melee Liz. Liz, however, was in the air, but that didn't deter Rachel from trying to swat her from the sky. needless to say, she failed and we both ended up dying. her from her stupidity, and me because i had Volf and Alexei on me while Liz was throwing blood from a distance. ugh. dumbass. of course, Rachel might be out of ninpo for whatever reason, but if that's the case, then a nice UT will usually do the trick better. unless Liz is the only boss and she's stand right next to you upon revival. 9. Thou Shalt Not Die While Alexei is in Berserk Mode ok, i know you can't exactly control when you die. maybe your finger slipped and you lost your twirl, whatever. but it is REALLY annoying when you die while Alexei is in berserk mode. not only does Ryu have to leave a boss that only has about 25% health, but he has to dodge that annoying multi-dash to revive you and then wait for Alexei to come back over to him. this can be tougher than it sounds when Alexei goes dash-crazy. you should obviously try not to die at all, but you definitely don't want to do it at this point! 10. Thou Shalt Fight Liz Effectively there's only you, Ryu, and Elizabet. Genshin isn't going to swoop out of the sky, and Alma isn't going to come back for her sister (throwback Ninja Gaiden reference!), so just take your time and play smart. don't get within tail range of Liz, don't get so close that you can't release an ET/UT in time if she dashes all of a sudden, DON'T try to melee her, and don't jump around like a fool. just be patient, yo-yo Liz with Ryu, dodge her dashes, and UT her when you can. she'll go down before you know it. and if Ryu goes down, don't run wildly over to revive him! moving around Liz is like crossing the street: you look both ways and make sure everything is okay. don't dawdle, but at the same time don't blindly rush over. and speaking of reviving, don't twirl into a revive. jump, run or dash into one. if you twirl into one, Rachel will fire her gun 90% of the time. this is worth a commandment spot by itself, but i'm out of room! i know DP21 has. him and i actually tried it last night for a bit. we made it to Zedonius once. most annoying part is that Liz is guaranteed at least once or twice per mission to come over and mess with Ryu while he's fighting Alexei one on one.
other than that and just having to get Volf out of the way at the beginning while another Ryu tries to stay alive, it isn't that bad. assuming i don't just quit playing this game altogether, i'll eventually do it. i got to Liz once with 2 Ryu's with a dude on my friends list named Izunu_. that guy is a monster. we might have beaten it if i wasn't also talking on the phone at the time lol. |

what about wen we get there me nd u what do u say is the strategy, assuming there is no lag. i had it once with a partner where it wouldnt connect for like an hour, but we gave it a break nd tried it a few days later nd it went smooth. what happened 2day is probably cuz of timing nd it should be better i hope on monday again. monday lets play around 4ish. i think that sounds more reasonable for timing.
