The game is really great, I enjoyed playing it very much
But... collecting stuff to upgrade all weapons was time consuming, frustrating and just not so fun. For this "frustrating" part, I rate the difficulty 6 |

Rated a 4. Most of it was easy. The only downside (patient-wise) would be the upgrades, the white moonflower & the fishing. Some of the materials were a pain to find, but not as bad as I thought it would be (least it's not like the Pure Bladestone in Demon's Souls.... Not looking forward to that again when the EU version is finally released). Great game overall.

Game is really easy itself (even on Hard level). Platinum trophy is only a matter of time and endurance. Forlorn Necklace are real pain in the ass, along with Black Pearls.
My advice - check gather spots whenever you can from the start of your adventure. You will save yourself big chunk of frustration later... |

Rated it a 5.
Not hard at all gameplay wise, but gathering was a pain. Unfortunately, for me the worst materials were not all the ones people complained about. In one single night of playing I was able to get all of my Forlorn Necklaces, Memory Alloys, and Subdued Necklaces. It took me (not exagerating) 14 hours of logged game time to find 14 Pyrites. |

^Pyrite was my last item. I needed 3. Took about 90 minutes to get any in the barren temple, then I got 2 in a row, then a Flourite, then another Pyrite.
I got 3 forlorn necklaces and 3 subdued bracelets in 3.5 hours total. I already had 1 forlorn necklace from passing through the plains on my speed run! I had a movie playing on my laptop while doing the farming, made it much more tolerable lol. I got the Eagle Eggs from the DLC and the Broken Pottery from the harvest point just outside the junk heap at the top of the bridge. I was, uh, 'Finished' with the Aerie before I did my real farming so I would have had to do a NG+++ for the Eagle Eggs. Gold Ore was a pain but only because you need a lot of it. Anywho I voted 4. |

6 on my half. All but a handful of the trophies can be obtained in your first playthrough. Gameplay during the story progression was not very difficult, and made even easier by the fact that the difficulty level you play on has no effect on trophies. But then you have everyone's favorite, the good ol' fetch quests. I haven't been more frustrated farming materials in a game since trying to get a Pure Bladestone in Demon's Souls. Subdued Bracelets were my worst enemy in Nier. The only other difficult trophy IMO was Cultivating the Legendary Flower, but was easily attainable with the use of a guide. I think it took me roughly 55-60 hours to platinum, but at the same time (for sooooome reason), I thought there was a trophy for completing 100% of the quests. Oops. Very enjoyable game though!
