Default 'Twins' Sequel 'Triplets' in the Works for Arnold, DeVito...and Eddie Murphy

Quote:
From The Hollywood Reporter by Borys Kit

The story would reteam Schwarzenegger and DeVito as brothers Julius and Vincent, conceived experimentally, who discover they have third sibling

Is the world ready for a sequel to Twins?

Universal and Montecito Picture Co. are hoping to develop a doozy of a follow-up to the 1988 hit comedy that starred Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito that would reunite the two stars.

But wait, there’s a twist: In the new scenario, Eddie Murphy would act as a third brother.

Titled Triplets, the story would see Schwarzenegger and DeVito as brothers Julius and Vincent, conceived experimentally, who discover they have third sibling.

The project doesn’t have a director at this early stage -- Ivan Reitman, who helmed the original, would only act as a producer with his Montecito Picture Co. cohorts Joe Medjuk, Tom Pollock and Ali Bell, according to sources -- but the hunt is on for writers to develop the idea. Insiders caution that no substantial creative discussions have taken place between Universal and Montecito.

The actors are attached to star.

This wouldn’t be the first sequel to an 1988 film that Universal is working. The studio is developing a sequel to Midnight Run that sees Robert De Niro, one of the film’s two original stars along with Charles Grodin, returning
In a way I am a bit intrigued by this idea, then again I am not. I just don't see how this could be pulled off in a good way. Some movies should just be left alone and end at just the one movie no need for spinoffs or tweaks for a sequal years later.

See these three stars of comedy in one movie would be great. I jus hope that these new writers don't mess up the story too much...

This will be an epic fail, Arnie is past his time now he's too old especially for a sequel to a film which was released in 1988 and Eddie Murphy is absolutely terrible now, man nutty professor was his last decent film and even that was... average, but hey what the hell just make up a story line for a sequel to a film 24 years old which hasn't really got any potential but it might make us a few bob, that’s just the feeling i get with half the films nowadays, worst script ever they just want to make a quick buck!

This is utterly bizarre, but I'm slightly interested for Arnold. I haven't been into anything Eddie has done in years, and to see Danny again, um I don't know hehe. I haven't seen Twins in years and not sure if I want to despite this news.

Stars of comedy? Arnold has never been anything but unintentionally funny. He's funny like bad mayonnaise is funny. And Eddie and Danny haven't had solid roles in decades. Eddie Murphy's family shit has dominated the last 15 years of his career (and don't forget Pluto Nash), and Danny Devito only damages It's Always Sunny - the show's best stuff is all before he came on board.

Even if we are talking relics, these three are not stars of comedy. Something with John Cleese, Bill Murray, Steve Martin... there's a rusty trio of comedy gold that I might want to see.

Laughable, and not in a good way.

Apart from Beverley Hills Cop, Eddie Murphy is total shit and should never be cast for anything. Oh haha, you're playing more than one person. Including fat old ladies?

Twins is actually an alright film, let's not ruin it.

I would say leave this idea on the shelf where it belongs. Just doesn't sound like it would make a decent comedy.

To me growing up Arnie was my hero however following up with a sequel to Twins is just wrong! This will be more like grump old men! I would rather see Arnie get into shape and go kick some Predator ass!
