One important thing to learn how to use are clipping masks as they allow you to put things like brush strokes on only the text. If you're using clipping masks then try to choose fonts with thick letters. I pretty much add drop shadow to all of my text since that can help bring it out in front of the rest of the signature. Another good thing to do is to add a very thin border on the text as this will help keep the definition of the text when lots of effects are being added to it. You can also mess around with outer glow and such, it really depends on the signature.

Here are some tips for quick good looking text. Since I went over the character limit I'll break this down into 2 messages.

Here are some text examples I've done.


1. Font used: Arial Black. Clipping Masks, Drop Shadow, black 1 px stroke inside, outer glow white and just messed around with the spread and stuff until I was satisfied.
2. Font used: Capture It. Clipping Masks, Drop Shadow, black 1 px stroke inside.
3. Font used: Chrom. Clipping Masks, Drop Shadow, black 1 px stroke inside, small outer glow blue.
4. Font used: Impact. Clipping Masks, Drop Shadow, black 1 px stroke inside.
