It has a steep learning curve but it's not terribly difficult; I'm currently at 60% Trophies and I'd rate it a 3/10 or so. Maybe a 4/10, depending on how hard S Rank on Hyper Difficulty turns out to be. Note that the is somewhere in the 80-120 hour range (though I've seen it done as fast as 60-something hours by a friend who is a bonafide Idolm@ster expert) and 9 playthroughs minimum.
