Xx_Progenitor_xX
Welcome to my Signature Gallery! I started making signatures around 02/2012 so I am still trying to get my head around most of the inner workings and functions that Gimp v2.6 has to offer. I've pretty much done all of these on my own by teaching myself. I welcome all advice/criticism/tips&tricks. Don't be afraid to criticize, it's the only way I'll learn to get better I am now taking requests. Please copy and paste the form below: Avatar/Signature: You can pick one, or both. Text: What text would like on your design? Render/Image: What image(s) would you like to be used? If you want to use renders from Planet Renders you must be signed in. Size: What size would you like? You may have anything size up to 275px (Height) and 640 (Width) Notes: Anything additional information or requests, relating to your request go here. Please note that you must have at least 10 non-spam posts in the forums to request an image. Also, if I create an image for you, please remember to give me credit if you are satisfied with the work. Just simply include my name somewhere in the signature, to show recognition for my time and effort. Number 1-10: [spoiler=0514]My very first one: http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i465/Xx_Progenitor_xX/sig.png My thoughts: I wasn't looking to do much with this one. Just get my feet wet and try some things out Number 2: http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i465/Xx_Progenitor_xX/RandC.png My thoughts: This one I wanted to try some different things with colour and the fractals. Number 3: http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i465/Xx_Progenitor_xX/PoP.png My thoughts: This one turned out exactly the way I wanted it to. Looking back, I probably made the render a bit to hazy and it could be a bit more clear. Number 4: http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i465/Xx_Progenitor_xX/PoP-1.png My thoughts: This one is the exact same as the one above except that I gave the text an inverted shadow. Number 5: http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i465/Xx_Progenitor_xX/RandC2.png My thoughts: I saw a tutorial for this type of thing on Youtube and wanted to give it a go. I think it turned out pretty good for a first try although the background colour could be better. Number 6: http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i465/Xx_Progenitor_xX/Bond.png My thoughts: I was just playing around with different layers and filters for the one. It turned out much better than I anticipated. Number 7: http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i465/Xx_Progenitor_xX/GoW.png My thoughts: I'm a little upset that the render is cut off at the shoulders and I didn't even notice until it was way too late to change it and I didn't want to redo the whole thing so I left it. Aside from that minor error, I think this is one of my better ones Number 7.5: http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i465/Xx_Progenitor_xX/GoW-1.png My thoughts: I took Aepriz's advice and did a little bit of smudging around where the render was cut off. I think it looks much better off now Number 8: http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i465/Xx_Progenitor_xX/CaptainAmerica1.png My thoughts:This one is my new favourite so far. I especially like the text. Number 9: http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i465/Xx_Progenitor_xX/Joker.png My thoughts: This one was kind of a pain in the backside to create (for me anyways ). I had a bit of a hard time trying to get the colouring just right and a few other things gave me some grief. Other than that, I think it turned out pretty good. Number 10: http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i465/Xx_Progenitor_xX/Chester1.png My thoughts: This was one of my original ideas for entry into the Black & White SoTM competition. I decided that it looked much better in colour and made it into one of my own. Number 11-20: [spoiler=mississauga] Number 11: http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i465/Xx_Progenitor_xX/GoW2_1.png My thoughts: This was also originally going to be my entry to the Black & White SoTM but it just didn't look right in grayscale so I decided that it would become my own as well Number 12: http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i465/Xx_Progenitor_xX/AC3.png My thoughts: My new favourite. I really like this one Number 13: http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i465/Xx_Progenitor_xX/Jessica_Jane.png My thoughts: Just wanted one with a hot girl in it That's all Number 14: http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i465/Xx_Progenitor_xX/human_torch.png My thoughts: Really liked the render for this one. Thought I could make something special with it Number 15: http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i465/Xx_Progenitor_xX/spawn_4.png My thoughts: Again, I really liked the render for this one. I think it turned out really well. I was able to use the same font that is used for the comic book title. That's where the green comes from in the text Number 16: http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i465/Xx_Progenitor_xX/random_2.png My thoughts: I was just playing around with a transparent background and just putting random brush strokes in random places. I think it turned out really well. Number 17: http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i465/Xx_Progenitor_xX/Untitled-1.png Number 18: http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i465/Xx_Progenitor_xX/Nightcrawler.png Number 19: http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i465/Xx_Progenitor_xX/Batman_In_Progress_zps7f0f388c.png Number 20: http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i465/Xx_Progenitor_xX/Pikachu_In_Progress.png Number 21-30 [spoiler=thdnwnrv] Number 21: http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i465/Xx_Progenitor_xX/Leon_RE6_2.png SoTM Entries [spoiler=davidw] http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i465/Xx_Progenitor_xX/Ghost1.png Theme: Black & White # of Votes Received: 1 http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i465/Xx_Progenitor_xX/SoTM_7.png Theme: Superheroes # of Votes Received: 2 http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i465/Xx_Progenitor_xX/Starkiller.png Theme: PS3T.org # of Votes Received: 5 Requests [spoiler=erinl] http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i465/Xx_Progenitor_xX/Godfather_8.png http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i465/Xx_Progenitor_xX/Godfather_7.png http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i465/Xx_Progenitor_xX/XxJVBxX.png http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i465/Xx_Progenitor_xX/SAAD80GB_2.png http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i465/Xx_Progenitor_xX/Jordan515_2.png http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i465/Xx_Progenitor_xX/TheManUtdFan_4.pnghttp://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i465/Xx_Progenitor_xX/TheManUtdFan-1.png http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i465/Xx_Progenitor_xX/TINxCUP-2.png http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i465/Xx_Progenitor_xX/J24CTU_1-2.pnghttp://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i465/Xx_Progenitor_xX/J24CTU_1-3.png http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i465/Xx_Progenitor_xX/Laimmy.pnghttp://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i465/Xx_Progenitor_xX/Laimmy_1_zps7742d197.png http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i465/Xx_Progenitor_xX/TINxCUP_16_10_2012.png http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i465/Xx_Progenitor_xX/BloodWolf481.pnghttp://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i465/Xx_Progenitor_xX/BloodWolf481-1.png http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i465/Xx_Progenitor_xX/PairOMachetes_zps0486ce87.png THL Signatures [spoiler=eldw] http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i465/Xx_Progenitor_xX/J24CTU_1.pnghttp://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i465/Xx_Progenitor_xX/J24CTU_1-1.png http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i465/Xx_Progenitor_xX/Xx_Progenitor_xX.pnghttp://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i465/Xx_Progenitor_xX/Xx_Progenitor_xX-1.png http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i465/Xx_Progenitor_xX/TINxCUP.pnghttp://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i465/Xx_Progenitor_xX/TINxCUP-1.png http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i465/Xx_Progenitor_xX/newgroundsguru.pnghttp://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i465/Xx_Progenitor_xX/newgroundsguru-1.png http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i465/Xx_Progenitor_xX/RvP.png http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i465/Xx_Progenitor_xX/JB.png *Note* The last two were for a lost THL bet Mortal Kombat Series [spoiler=5484915] http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i465/Xx_Progenitor_xX/Baraka.png http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i465/Xx_Progenitor_xX/Cyrax.png http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i465/Xx_Progenitor_xX/Raiden.png Banners: [spoiler=hdytndbw2y] http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i465/Xx_Progenitor_xX/UnachievableGlitched_2.png Edited November 10, 2013 by Xx_Progenitor_xX

Aside from that minor error, I think this is one of my better ones Really loving that one. also you can still fix it a bit if you don't like it. Try using the smudge tool to see if you can come up with something to make it flow with the background (or clipping masks perhaps?) Keep up the great work my friend. DaFaztFingaz
Here's the tutorial you requested: [spoiler=poptut] Step 1. We'll start by getting a good render, I've chosen this render of Venom since the angle would work well in the sig that I'll be making. Finding a good render that will work well is crucial to getting the perspective right. http://i43.tinypic.com/30n7zgl.png Step 2. Next I'll begin working on the background. This step is where you will be doing the majority of the design work. Unfortunately this background won't be the same as the one in my sig since I can't find the file I made of it. http://i44.tinypic.com/2i8hero.png Step 3. Next I'll be adding the render and background on to the canvas. Before adding the background make sure that you're happy with the look of it since it will be difficult to change it once you distort it. http://i39.tinypic.com/oters7.png Step 4. Next I will change the perspective of the background so that it looks like Venom is coming out of it. So I select the background layer and go to edit > transform > perspective. http://i43.tinypic.com/2nsnkw5.png Step 5. Now that I've gotten the perspective to match Venom I'll now adjust it so it looks even better. So I select the background layer and go to edit > transform > distort. This step will take some time so just be patient and you'll get it right. http://i41.tinypic.com/351ehw3.png Step 6. Now we're almost done, but what's wrong with it? Venom doesn't look like he's coming out of it yet, so let's fix that. I've added some grunge strokes around him and some sharper geometric shapes to make it look as though he's breaking through the background. http://i40.tinypic.com/kng50.png Step 7. We're almost done now! I've added some drop shadow to the background layer to give it that extra 3d look. At this point you can add any finishing touches you want. http://i40.tinypic.com/2r762z5.png Step 8. Here's the actual signature I made using the above steps: http://i44.tinypic.com/1190bc0.png The best thing to do is keep messing around and you'll get the hang of it. Having a good understanding of perspective will also help a lot with making these. Hopefully most of these steps are similarly performed in GIMP. Hope this helps! If you have anymore questions or would like another tutorial than feel free to ask, I'll be happy to help you out any way that I can. Xx_Progenitor_xX
Great Work Pro! Really effective Thanks man! I appreciate the kind words. Hey everyone. A couple of years ago I was tasked with writing a story for my English class. I ended up writing an "Other World" Batman story. Basically, the story takes place in the Batman universe but only in character names and location reference. I wrote it in the first-person perspective on purpose. The story progresses through Batman's eyes. I specifically wrote it to be a one-time story with no potential for a sequel. I could post it here or I can send it to you via PM or email if you would like to read it. I would really like some constructive criticism. I have revised the first post to include the new content. I haven't added my first story yet. First I want to know if you guys would be interested in reading what I have. Leave a comment letting me know! DaFaztFingaz
UPDATE: Just one for now. More coming in the next few days http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i465/Xx_Progenitor_xX/AC3.png What do you think? I like it the best so far Good sig, I like how the border compliments the rest of the sig nicely. The AC logos are blended well. My only complaint is that the render seems too subdued and doesn't stand out enough. I think if you made it more like this it would stand out more, and of course you could add some brush strokes and effects around him to blend the render in with the background while still leaving it saturated enough to stand out. http://i49.tinypic.com/2v0d0le.png I'm by no means calling it a bad sig, it's definitely one of your best, just giving you a few constructive tips. Can't wait to see more!

Can't wait to see more! Very nice indeed. And yes i also agree with what DaFaztFingaz says. It's funny you should mention that the render needs to stand out more. I had a long debate with myself about duplicating the render layer and colorizing it a bit brighter to make it blend more with the background. I wanted the render to appear as if it were part of the landscape and thought that having it a bit brighter and slightly faded it would blend better. I do agree that I could easily place some subtle brush strokes to make it blend better. Thanks to both of you for the feedback! More on the way very soon.
