Im glad they kept it linear, a narrative can never be as tight in a sandbox imo. Like take Far Cry 2, the story might have been good (I will never know..) but the open world killed the game for me. Absolutely boring! Thats not to say Sandbox is bad, it just has to be done well. I have no doubt R* could pull off a Sandbox Max Payne but i would take linear anyday. Max Payne is all about the action, you put it in an open world and it slows the pace.
I just hate being forced to do side missions in games, most of the time they are mundane and boring. Really my point is Sandbox works for some games and doesnt for others. |

Linear Fersure. I think you'll see open areas and more detailed environments but open-world is kind of out of question. Rockstar would need to make a more linear game, especially because Max Payne is a somewhat close-quarters, cover shooter. Lets just hope there's not a level where a baby's cries are looped again... I almost went insane.
