Looks like there are at least some consequences to cheating with LI from prior Mass Effects.
iirc I was with Liara in ME1 and then Miranda in ME2 Broke it off with Miranda and she was ok with it Started with Ashely and continued it. Talking to Liara before heading to Ceberus HQ She sounds pissed.... and if you try and chat her up after the dialog she is busy ![]()

Yep, definitely consequences. In one playthrough, I chose Kaidan in ME1 and Thane in ME2. Even though I broke it off with Thane immediately, I must have chosen the wrong responses to Kaidan in the hospital as he has no intention of rekindling the romance, and insists on just being friends.

If I recall from ME2, james was pissed as hell when I dismissed him for thane "oooh don't tell me, its the sad drell eyes? All you girls fall for it" the only time I played a female shep and made a fool out of the male crew members

you dont need to buy a gift. you can start the romance even without the gift, i never bought the gift on my first playthrough and i got the trophy, then bought it on my insanity run and it doesnt change, maybe if you screw up with a response then you need the gift to continue

I thought it was a bit weird ... first of all, the buzz is being sold at the hospital? I also thought it would be a gift for Dr. Chakwas, not Kaidan, and when I visit someone in hospital, I don't bring him a bottle of whiskey or something as a gift. A little uncommon.
However, I guess you can give it to him at a later time, too? |

To answer Ecto's original question, yes I bought the whiskey. However, I think I messed up on an ambiguous dialogue option. When Kaidan mentioned my infidelity, the paragon option was something like 'Let me me explain' and the Renegade was 'I'm sorry'. I chose the Renegade option, and Shep said something like 'Well, I couldn't wait forever ...'. I didn't think much of it at the time; by the time I got to the Apollo Cafe scene, 20 hrs later, and realised my mistake, it was obviously not worth going back.
