I got level 30 in one playthrough, though I kept it kinda close - only had one or two more N7 missions left that I could do

i didn't find it hard to get to level, although i had all the dlc when it came out at the time. i think on my first play through i got to level 29 or something and started over with that character and got to level 30 before i had to meet with martin sheen.

If Insanity popped on you, which it sounds like it did, then you are fine. The only thing I would say is go to normal as easy is so pathetic that it isn't fun IMO. |

I hit 30 during the suicide mission (after the "biotic specialist" section), so it was a close call I guess. I only missed one minor side mission ("Liara: The Observer" in Illium), since I chose Shadow Broker -mission a bit too early (I believe there are two "Liara missions" that you have to do before activating Shadow Broker - I missed the other one). Mission checklist can be found here: Mass Effect 2 Galactic Checklist | Mass Effect Checklists by Teryx I personally didn't want to go "back" playing the game after the suicide mission, so hitting the level 30 in one playthrough was something that I wanted. |
