Is the online pass required?

As the title says, is the online pass necessary for platinum? I enjoy a nice game of Madden once and a while but I have no reason to buy this one since I own a recent installment.

Just wanted to know if there are any online trophies and if so, can they be gained in the trial period? Also, if anyone knows how long the trial is that would also be helpful.

i do not think u need the online pass unless they make u connect to ea server for madden ultimate team

They make you connect to the EA server but you can use a 2 day free trial which is enough time to platinum.

So I asked this a few days ago and it connects you to the servers, but it still let me play MUT after my trial expired. The only one I'm pretty sure you need online for is the trade which I finished.
