I paid roughly US$15 for some 'full price games' for my ZX Spectrum back in 1989, so I think you're complaining about nothing. US$15 back in 1989 is worth about US40 now, so you're getting a bargain. We didn't even have the option to do game saves in those days.

I did the same thing just with a Nintendo which did have a few game saves but my point is games are being made today just to make them. Paying for a game to day compared to the eighties is completely different in my opinion. When we bought the games back then they were at their maximum technology potential. Now the lower psn games seem to just throw a game together in high def and say its great. This one reminds me of the old NES kung fu game just with better graphics.

Personally, I've only been truly pleased with one $15 game - BF:1943. The rest have all left that "man, I wish this was $10" taste in my mouth, including this one. Still have to try it in 3D, though. Maybe that will make up for it. Last edited by NEOPARADIGM; 08-29-2009 at 03:55 PM. |

$15 PSN games should NOT exist.
The exception being retail games & wipeout (which is considered a retail game). PSN games should be $9.99. Whats with the funk $12.99 Worms??? It doesn't matter the number of trophies either. Reatil price point on games are dropping quick, very quick. You can walk into any store and get SF4 for $35. Mirrors Edge & Trivial Pursuit for $20. Ive even seen Warhawk with the mic for $30. Another thing.. add-ons are WAY over priced. $10? Are you kidding me?! $10 for a stupid W@W map? Sure it has trophies, but $10. I know its going to sell anyways, as it has, but com'mon man. $10?!

Thing is, even if a game is poor - a team of people had to put it together. Who pays for their wages? If they sold PSN games at $5 to start with, it would take forever to re-coup the costs.
Also, I don't think games are necessarily priced on how good they might be. Some games will always sell well regardless of their cost - look at PAIN. The most overpriced game I've bought on PSN is Magic Ball. Yes, I got my 100% on it, including the DLC... I bought the DLC at the same time as the original game, so I had no idea of the replay value of the game (next to zero). ~ squodge ~ |

Thing is, most people seem to agree that games like Terminator Salvation are a pile of pants... yet people seem happy to pay $50 for them, or whatever the cost is in Walmart. One of the best games I've ever bought was PixelJunk Monsters... £3.49 (about $5), and I was sad when I finished the game. ~ squodge ~ |
