Why not collect all shards and dead drops on 1st (easy) playthrough?

Is there any advantage to collect those AFTER you've completed the game on hard? It would sound more reasonable to collect them during the hard playthrough to make your character more powerful, or am I missing something here?

What's the point of doing clean-up after hard playthrough and switching to easy and not doing it the 1st time through?

There is no advantage to collect them after beating the game. It is just a matter of convenience. Since the trophy could take a wile, many feel it'd be better saving it for the end.
You can collect the shards during your hard playthrough if you want. The mode is not that difficult to complete even without the shards.
