How exactly does the lizard exploit work?

The guide says, shoot the tail off, pick it up, then save your game and reload which makes the lizard respawn with a new tail but I've done that and it doesn't work.

Well all I have heard about them is that if you leave the area without killing the lizard than it will never come back and you have to restart from a new game. Its not about the tails its about actually killing the lizards, every guide I have read has had warnings about this very situation..... I hate ps2

The lizard exploitation tail is a pointless exercise. Takes far too long for max stamina going down that route.

I, too, agree with LaochEire... just play the game if you are aiming for max stamina...

Eating about 10 lizard tails (or less) is the same as beating a colossus....

I haven't got this glitch to work either, and I really tried doing it.

If you know where the lizards are, they are pretty easy to find all of in every playthrough, and will definitively reduce the time, no matter what others say. It's like you pick 'em up on the way to each colossus.

Exploit was fixed in the PS3 version afaict, but I agree with MMDE, they're worth picking up on the shrines at least (especially after grabbing the flash arrow from NTA), might just save you from a 4th playthrough for platinum, especially if you've already completed "Endangered Lizards"~
