Introduction:

This Road Map will outline the steps required to satisfy the trophy conditions within the most reasonable and efficient use of time possible. Most of the trophies will come during your "Career" Mode during offline play. The remaining online trophies will require a fair amount of time to obtain. Here is the link to the Boosting Thread to help expedite obtaining these trophies.

Additionally, the amount of time required to complete the Offline and Online trophies will differ in length of time but the approximate averages will be listed below. Boosting, skill and time spent with the game will affect the total time needed to reach 100%.

Completing all Offline Trophies: 10+ hours

Completing all Online Trophies: 20+ hours (Unobtainable due to server closure). The Online trophies for Hustle Kings can vary in length of time depending on a variety of scenarios including but not limited to: Your skill level, whether you boost or not and the time you invest in obtaining all 4 Online trophies, particularly the "Hustle King!" trophy.

Walkthrough:

Hustle Kings is a very challenging game, particularly once you've reached the higher difficulty "Career" modes like "Pro" and especially "Insane". There is pretty much a zero margin of error once you've unlocked these upper tiered levels. The A.I. is ridiculously accurate and the computer rarely misses. Additionally, you wont believe some of the advanced shots the computer makes should you find yourself unfortunate enough to have ruined an initial table run. Not to worry! Nothing is impossible here.

Initially, you're going to want to pay a visit to the "Training Mode". This is a great way to learn the basics of the game before jumping into your "Career". More information about "Training Mode" will be outlined in the Trophy Guide.

After you've completed your training you can choose to either head to the web and start working on your online trophies or you can begin your career. Personally, my advice is to start off with "Career" mode. You'll need to have earned a significant amount of money before being able to "hustle" against other players online. The option is available to play for no money at all as well. There are 5 difficulty levels but only 4 are required to be completed for the "Career Complete" trophy. All trophy specific levels require 10 events to be completed. Insane level is optional and not a prerequisite for the trophy.

  • Rookie - (easy difficulty)
  • Amateur - (easy - medium difficulty)
  • Semi-Pro - (medium - hard difficulty)
  • Professional - (hard difficulty - 1 event is medium)
  • Insane - (insane difficulty)

It may take quite a bit of time, practice and patience to progress through "Career" mode in its entirety. The reason is, in order to participate in higher skill leveled events you need to clear a certain number of events in previous modes, starting with "Rookie". Additionally, you must pay a pre-determined entrance fee in order to play in most events (regardless of difficulty). Should you lose the game against the A.I. you forfeit your fee and end up backwards in cash. This could cripple your ability to advance to the higher leveled game modes very quickly forcing you to replay lower leveled events to rebuild what you lost.

TIP: Should you find yourself frustrated and broke thus unable to complete the higher difficulty modes you may be inclined to use this method.

  • If you're playing a high-stakes game against the A.I. during your "Career" mode and you think you're going to lose (you WILL lose if you do not run the table off the break in Professional mode) press the Start button on your controller before the final ball is pocketed. Then exit out to the XMB via the PS button. Reboot the game back up and you'll find you still have your entrance fee. Saavy?

TIP #2: I highly recommend you invest in the specialized chalks (Eagle Eye, Cool Hand and Fusion King). I learned very quickly after a ton of frustrations that these chalks could potentially make or break your ability to complete "Career" Mode. They are well worth the purchase if you're struggling and serious about getting 100% in this game. If you are able to complete the entire game without these special chalks you deserve a special secret trophy!

Hustle Kings Chalks

A variety of Chalks are available in Hustle Kings, some of which are only obtained by purchasing from the PlayStation Store. They are designed to increase contact friction between the cue stick and cue balls thus limiting mis-cue's or slippage. Some shots are extremely difficult to pull off without the use of certain Chalks. Additionally, they serve to enhance specific characteristics such as shot accuracy, aiming and a little bit of both.

  • Classic Chalk - Basic Chalk available for infinite uses. This enhances the accuracy of your shots and can help prevent tip deterioration and slippage.
  • Eagle Eye - Advanced Chalk (with limited # of uses) only available on the PS Store. Using this significantly increases your aiming line and can greatly aid your ability to pocket a long-range ball at the other end of the table. This is highly recommended for higher level Career modes as well as online gameplay.
  • Cool Hands - Advanced Chalk (with limited # of uses) only available on the PS Store. Using this significantly increases your shot accuracy. This provides maximum cue tip friction even while attempting complex technical shots (such as Trickshots). This is highly recommended for higher level Career modes as well as online gameplay.
  • Fusion King - Superior top-of-the-line Chalk (with very limited # of uses) only available on the PS Store. This magnificent item greatly enhances both your accuracy and aim line. Fusion King is best used sparingly for those extremely difficult situations and tight shots. With proper placement and execution, you're almost guaranteed a successful pocket with this Chalk. This is highly recommended for higher level Career modes as well as online gameplay.
  • Second Sight - Advanced Chalk (NEW, and with limited # of uses) used specifically for combo shots. This Chalk will place additional lines on the table so you're able to see where a potential plant shot will end up rather than just guessing.

With the exception of the Classic Chalk, all other specialized chalks will require being repurchased from the PlayStation Store once the limited number of uses has been expired. Depending on your gameplay style and activity, this could be expensive very quickly. This is something to keep in mind.

Clean Up:

During the Clean Up of Hustle Kings your goal is to obtain the following trophies:

  • "Skill Shot!"
  • "Career Victory"
  • "Trick Shot Wizard"
  • "Skill Player!"
  • "Speed Freak"
  • "Luck is an Art"
  • "Online King"
  • "Online Hustler"
  • "Hustle King!"

You will obtain most of these trophies progressing through your "Career" mode in Offline play. The Online trophies (Online King, Online Hustler and Hustle King!) will more than likely require a fair amount of time to aquire. More in-depth information regarding these trophies will be outlined in the Trophy Guide.

Conclusion:

It doesn't take long to learn and eventually master the basics of the game. Advanced shots and amazing matches will come sooner than you realize. The key is to be patient and hone your skills. Try new methods and different techniques.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/311/03.jpgOnline Hustler Bronze Trophy (B)

Hustle a player online.

UNOBTAINABLE DUE TO SERVER CLOSURE

Easy enough to obtain. Simply win an online match against another player. It must be a game where HKC was at stake (ie: Hustle Kings Credits). The amount of the wager isn't important. Boosting Thread

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/311/03.jpgTrick Shot Wizard Bronze Trophy (B)

Complete all trick shots.

You must complete all 8 Trickshot events in "Offline Play" mode. Please note that the Trickshot events in "Career" mode do not count towards this trophy. However, several of the required events are also found in "Career" mode so there will be some familiarity in that regard.

You'll need to take your time with these events. Try to be patient and focus on proper shot execution and precision. Always read the description of the Trickshot required before proceeding to the table and view the A.I. doing the actual shot before attempting it yourself.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/311/03.jpgLicense to Hustle Bronze Trophy (B)

Complete training mode.

Very simple trophy. There are 9 training sessions to be completed and all of them are essential in learning the basics of the game. You won't be expected to be an expert here but that's why you're training, right?

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/311/03.jpgCareer Victory Bronze Trophy (B)

Win a career mode game.

Another simple trophy that you'll easily obtain in "Rookie" level. Choose an event to start out with and upon completing the event the trophy will unlock.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/311/03.jpgSkill Shot! Bronze Trophy (B)

Swerve or Jump to pot a ball.

In order to unlock this trophy you'll be required to execute a Swerve or Jump shot to pocket a ball. This is only unlocked Offline so far as I know. Here is a video for reference on the Jump Shot:

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/311/02.jpgCareer Complete Silver Trophy (S)

Complete career mode.

To unlock this trophy you must complete all 40 events from "Rookie" to "Professional". The difficulty of the events will increase substantially as you progress to the higher levels. It is highly recommended you consider purchasing the specialized chalks (Eagle Eye, Cool Hand & Fusion King) to aid you, particularly once you get to "Semi-Pro" and on through "Professional" modes. These chalks offer significant improvement to your gameplay and will reduce the down-time and frustrations that might inhibit your advancement.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/311/02.jpgLuck is an Art Silver Trophy (S)

Beat someone else who has this trophy.

UNOBTAINABLE DUE TO SERVER CLOSURE

This trophy could be very easy or very hard to obtain. If you know someone on your friends list who has "Hustle Kings" and possesses this trophy, ask to obtain it from a match (in which you need to win). If you do not know anyone who has it you'll simply have to play online in random games and hope to eventually acquire it. There is really no other alternative to getting it. Boosting Thread

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/311/02.jpgSpeed Freak Silver Trophy (S)

8-Ball clearance in under 40 seconds.

This trophy is best pursued in an "Exhibition" game (although other game modes could work I'm sure). This event (among others) is located in the "Offline Play" menu. Select "Exhibition" then make sure it's "US 8-Ball" and "Easy". The idea here is to completely run the table of your balls (stripes or solids) after the break and pocket the 8-Ball in under 40 seconds.

o far as I know the timer stops when you're aiming but resumes when the ball is in play. This trophy will more than likely require several repeated attempts until you get it. Just be patient and stay focused and you'll do just fine. Here's a video for reference.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/311/02.jpgOnline King Silver Trophy (S)

Win 100 online games.

UNOBTAINABLE DUE TO SERVER CLOSURE

In order to obtain this trophy you must win 100 online games. It doesn't matter what game mode it is as long as you win. If someone disconnects in a match with you you'll automatically get credit for the win (along with any cash that was wagered). Boosting Thread

NOTE: To check your win totals click on "My Profile" > "Trophies". Then view the trophy for "100 online wins".

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/311/02.jpgSkill Player! Silver Trophy (S)

Complete jump, swerve, bank and plant pots.

Please see the "Skill Shot!" trophy description for video references on Jumping and Swerving. Planting a pot is simply pocketing a ball after it has hit another ball first. You do not have to execute all 3 techniques within a single match in order to obtain the trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/311/01.jpgHustle King! Gold Trophy (G)

Earn 100 million HKC hustling online.

UNOBTAINABLE DUE TO SERVER CLOSURE

This trophy will require an absolute TON of time to obtain unless you boost for it. The description of this trophy is simple enough to understand, though. You must earn $100 million Hustle Kings Credits (HKC) online in matches against other players. Earning $100 million HKC Offline will not work! (to unlock the trophy offline).

The easiest and most simple way to get this trophy is to boost with a friend/player. The time required will vary and is highly dependant on the amount of cash both players have. The higher the better, simply put. Ideally, both players should have at least $5 million HKC or the boosting will drag on for a while. $10 million HKC and above will make acquiring this trophy a 30+ minute endeavour.

How to Boost the "Hustle Kings!" trophy:

2 players need to meet in either a private or public room (lobby). Both players must have the very minimum agreed upon amount of money to boost with ($10 million HKC as an example). The 1st player challenges the 2nd player wagering $10 million HKC (again, as an example). Player 2 accept the challenge. The game starts. Player 1 breaks the balls and then either chooses Solids or Stripes or gets lined up for the next shot. Immediately after the break Player 1 purposely quits the game to exit back to the lobby. This disconnect will automatically transfer the money to Player 2 who then initiates the challenge in return for the same amount of money. Player 2 also quits the match after the break and the funds are returned to Player 1. This process is repeated until both players have acquired the necessary HKC to unlock the trophy (total winnings not $100 million raw cash on-hand).

This process is reversed back and forth until both players have obtained the trophy. Regardless of whether or not you lose every other game, you still get credit for the winnings in your Stats/Profile.

Welcome to Hustle Kings: Pool 101. We'll outline and discuss the various game types found in Billiards and dissect the terminologies. Players who are new to the wonderful sport of Pool will have a better understanding of how to play the game types much better instead of jumping into an event confused.

US 8-Ball:

This game type is probably one of most common of all venues in Billiards. All 15 balls + the cue ball are utilized for this event. The goal is to pocket all of your balls (Stripes or Solids) and finally the 8-Ball before your opponent can follow suit with their balls. In Hustle Kings, once you've cleared the table of all your balls and are now on the 8-Ball, you must press L1 and select the pocket you intend on going for. If you do not press the L1 button to legally choose a pocket first, you will lose the game should you make the shot. I learned this the hard way...

9-Ball:

This game type is common in professional Billiards. It requires additional skill and strategy to master successfully. 9-Ball utilizes the 1 through 9 balls + the cue ball. The goal is to pocket the lowest numerical ball in order. You must make contact with the lowest numbered ball before any other ball or a foul is called and you not only lose your turn but can very well lose the game (particularly in higher leveled difficulties). You are able to combo off other balls as long as the lowest ball is hit first. Pocketing the 9-Ball legally wins the game.

Black-Ball:

This game type is common in the UK (United Kingdom). It is essentially the same as US 8-Ball only instead of Stripes and Solids the balls are all solid Red and Yellow. The rules are the same as US 8-Ball. Please see the description above again for reference if needed.

Cut-Throat:

This is essentially a 3-player elimination game. In Hustle Kings, the rack is comprised of Red, Blue and Yellow colored balls. After the player initially breaks, he/she will have the option to choose a color. Once the choice is made the object then becomes to pocket all of your opponents colored balls. If you do this successfully while having at least 1 of your own balls on the table, you win the game. This game mode becomes intense and brutal once you've advanced to the higher difficulty levels. Generally speaking, if you miss a shot you'll almost certainly lose the game, particularly in Professional and Insane modes.

14:1 Continuous:

This is an endurance/race game type. In Hustle Kings, you and the A.I. both start off with 30 "Pockets". This means the number of balls you must pocket. The goal is to pocket 30 balls before the computer does. Once you've gotten down to the last ball on the original break, a new rack of balls will appear. Simply rebreak and continue pocketing balls until your "Pocket" count goes to "0" at which point you win the game.

In 14:1 Continuous, you're able to pocket both Stripes and Solids without penalty (this includes the 8-Ball). This makes strategizing shots much easier.

Trickshots:

These range in difficulty and are comprised of pocketing balls using advanced techniques. Swerve (also known as massé), Jump shots, Bank and Plant Pots are generally the focus of these fancy shots. These techniques require skill, precision and a good eye for technical details. They are extremely fun to execute once you've mastered the cue stick vs. cue ball placement.

Chalk:

Nice guide.

I was unaware of needing to perform the trick shots out of career mode. The complete career mode and 100 online wins appear to be the most difficult trophies to obtain.

I managed to pick up "Luck is an Art" in the first couple of online games :D

I'll let you know if any new useful youtube vids pop up to add to the guide.

Thanks Funky!

I picked up the "Luck is an Art" trophy very quickly. A PSN friend had it and I got it after I beat him online. The 100 online wins is a bit of a grind but is probably obtained a little faster in "Quick Match" as opposed to going into a packed room and scrolling through player names. That's not even considering the time it takes to set up wagers and either wait for a challenge or have a challenger accept your invitation. In "Quick Match" there's no wagering. It's all just for fun so everything sets up very quickly. That is the last trophy I need for 100% and I'm shy 48 wins, so I'm almost there.

The Trickshots trophy threw me for a curve and I actually panicked after I had completed Career mode and the trophy didn't unlock, lol. You have to click on Offline Play and scrolls down to Trickshots and that's where the trophy waits.

And thanks for keeping an eye on useful YT vids. A ton should be available at some point soon due to players being able to upload data directly from the game itself.

The last Pro games with no aim lines are too difficult. Any tips?

Yes they are challenging. If you use special Chalks (Eagle Eye, Cool Hands and/or Fusion King) you get the benefit of aim lines and/or accuracy boosts even if the match calls for no lines.

Beyond that, not sure as I didn't try to beat Professional Mode without Chalks.

I also found it impossible without chalk.

With the green chalk however it was pretty easy.

Just a tip:

If you used the green chalk in a match and you're about to lose, press the PS button and quit the game. When you restart the game, the number of uses will be back to where it was before the match. That way you only need to buy the green chalk 1-2 times for finishing the whole professional mode. That's how I did it.

I personally feel the special chalks almost break the game, particularly offline. They give such an incredible advantage aside from the difficulty of the game itself. Granted, the game is still very challenging (and frustrating) at times but without the special chalks the game would be a solid 10 in difficulty (imo anyway).

Online MP is pretty much no different. I rarely lost a match (not including boosting) because I chose to spend money on chalks (lots of chalks, actually). I had to stop playing for a bit, though. I probably spent close to $10 USD just on special chalks from the PSN store. You'd be suprised how often they get used, particularly in random "Quick Match" games where you could end up with a 'no-line' game. It started getting expensive.

High-stakes HKC games can be a total scam if the person who gets to break completely runs the table using these chalks. I've actually had people decline my challenge then reinvite me all because they wanted to break the balls. >_>

Don't waste your money on the specialized chalks it's not needed.

The only difficult ones are pro Survivor and the cannon ball ones, but with practice they will come, I only play online with no lines so that practice helped me with the survivor one.

If you were able to obtain 100% in this game without the use of the special chalks then I salute you.

Yeah, I agree... without those chalks, Wipeout HD and Demon's Souls are a joke compared to this game! I would probably need to spend MONTHS finishing professional mode without them. That wouldn't be a problem if there weren't so many other great games out at the moment! ;)

I don't use the special chalks online though, since I think it's an unfair advantage over those who don't use them, and it's also just too expensive... I've only ever spent 0.50 Euros for chalks, and I won't spend any more.

Hmm, I have to disagree with this. I honestly do not see how these special chalks are a disadvantage to someone else online. If you had exclusive access to purchasing these chalks and no one else did then yes, it would most certainly be an unfair advantage. But everyone can buy them if they want to enhance their gameplay experience.

I honestly do not see how anyone can risk a super high-stakes HKC match and not use the Chalks if necessary. It's why they're available in the first place, lol.

I do agree it gets expensive, though. I actually stopped playing the game for a while because of how much money I spent on special chalks trying to 100% the game as quickly as possible (due to TSL). Offhand if I recall right, I've spent probably close to $10 USD just on those chalks alone. -__-

The ABOVE is wrong. Black Ball in the UK is different in three ways:

1) You do NOT need to nominate a pocket for the black ball, any pocket will do.

2) If you scratch the opponent can put the cue ball anywhere behind the line but not beyond it

3) You get two shots after your opponent fouls but they do not carry (ie you pot on your first shot and then miss then you do NOT get another shot whilst if you miss your first shot you get another)
