The House of the Dead 4 Trophy Guide and Road Map

Overview:
-Estimated trophy difficulty: 7.5/10 (Trophy Difficulty Thread) (Personal 7/10)
-Offline Trophies: 15 (13 , 1 , 1)
-Approximate amount of time to 100% - 10-25 Hours (Depending on Skill)
-Minimum number of playthroughs needed - 4 HoD4 and 3 HoD4 SP
-Number of missable trophies - All trophies excluding chapter completion are missable but chapter select can be used for all except Pandora's Box, Another Pandora's Box and Top Agent.
-Glitched trophies - None
-Does difficulty affect trophies? - All can be achieved on very easy with 9 lives/credits
-Do cheat codes disable trophies? - No Known Cheats
-Number of controllers required? - 1 Dualshock or Move controller

Road Map

Step 1 - Beat the original HoD4

Simply beat the game. Try to get used to the game and the Machine Gun upgrade. You can beat the game on very easy with 9 lives/credits for every trophy, you can also play on whatever options you choose. You can select the highest chapter you've achieved and start from there. Try to go for the chapter specific trophies as well on this playthrough as they are not very hard to get, just knowing what chapter they are on is enough to figure it out.

Step 2 - Beat HoD4 SP

After you beat HoD4, HoD4 SP unlocks. It is 4 chapters shorter than the original and takes no time at all. Going for TOP AGENT during this playthrough or directly after is ideal. There are no missable trophies in this playthrough so don't worry about anything and play for fun!

Step 3 - Get all the endings

There are a total of 7 endings in this game, 4 in the original and 3 in SP. Start with SP as it's shorter and a lot easier to do. Then go for the last 3 endings in the original game. This should be the last trophy you get when you achieve your 100% and it is definitely the hardest. Here's a guide that will help you achieve all the endings in the original game.

Just some information that I picked up from 100%ing this today about the endings. I'm pretty sure this will work for everyone.

Normal Goldman ending= first playthrough rank 3 or lower

Zombie Goldman ending= start from chapter 6 and was able to obtain first try

G ending= 1 S rank and all A's to obtain rank 2. the key is DO NOT S rank the last level or you will obtain the mysterious man ending

mysterious man ending= S rank last level and A's for the rest. I obtained this before the G ending with An S on the last level.

I'm sure this is the key, because I shot horribly on the last level to purposely get an A, and obtained the G ending.

For SP endings

bad=don't destroy box

good= destroy box

True= Do not get hit by the magician, destroy box

I'm 100% on the true here as well, because I would get to the level with around 75,000 and would be hit once and would not get that true ending. The time I was able to obtain it I played horribly, scoring only around 60,000 and beat the magician without being hit. True ending popped up.

Step 4 - Clean up

Any trophy you'd be missing after getting all the endings don't really take any time so it's fine to just go for them after step 1 or 2.

Trophy Guide

ESCAPE
Clear CHAPTER 1 on any difficulty.

For all the Chapter related trophies you can change anything you'd like. Easiest way would be:

Very Easy
Lives: 9
Credits: 9

Though you can continue from a chapter if you lose but the game is short and not too difficult.

LOST
Clear CHAPTER 2 on any difficulty.

EMPTINESS
Clear CHAPTER 3 on any difficulty.

DESPAIR
Clear CHAPTER 4 on any difficulty.

REUNION
Clear CHAPTER 5 on any difficulty.

HOPE
Clear CHAPTER 6 on any difficulty.

EAT THIS!!!
During CHAPTER 1 Boss encounter, throw a grenade and damage JUSTICE.

Pretty easy, once you reach the one and only boss in the chapter, wait for the boss to run at you (you will know, when you see a "cancel bar" under the health bar), then throw a grenade and wait for it to explode. If you see the cancel bar or health bar decrease at all then it should unlock.

CUT THE WIRE
During CHAPTER 2, cut the wire and let the enemies fall.

About halfway through CHAPTER 2 you will see a couple of enemies on a platform and they will try to jump at you, shoot the wire above the platform that is suspending it in air to make it drop. As long as one zombie is still on it, you will get the trophy.

BONUS EXPLORER
Find a secret room.

There is at least 1 secret room in every chapter and 2 in the first three. They are a little hard to find and if you can't find any, check out this guide:

GET THE BUS
Shoot and destroy the BUS.

In CHAPTER 4 after a cutscene of running up some stairs, you will be attacked by scientist zombies. After dismembering them the screen will turn to the right, you will see a box on the ground slightly left behind the zombies. My strategy was to leave one zombie then shoot the box, you get more than enough time to destroy the (very small) bus before it goes away. Take your time and try not to kill the zombie to get it for sure, here's a video if you are still having trouble finding it.

PANDORA'S BOX
See all 4 endings of THE HOUSE OF THE DEAD 4.

To achieve this trophy you must complete the original HoD4 4 times. The endings in HoD4 SP do not count towards this trophy (thank you nintendo64X for pointing this out). This is by far the hardest trophy in the game and one of the only ones that heighten the overall difficulty of the game. There are 4 different endings you can achieve and for at least two (maybe 3) of them you must start from the very beginning for the ones requiring a high rank. TOP AGENT
Get RANK 2 or above in Final Result.

Unless you are a god and got this on your first playthrough, try to get it on SP (Special). It's only 2 chapters long which is 4 less and quite easy. Try not to get hit to keep your score up, get as many perfects as possible (perfects are done by using the bare minimum of ammo to take down a zombie) and aim before you shoot for accuracy. If you're playing 2 player mode you only need half the amount of points.

WHO'S NEXT?
See the bad ending of HOD4 SP.

At the end of the 2 chapter long game, after you beat the magician do not throw a grenade at Pandora's Box (or miss trying to throw a grenade at it) and you will get the bad ending.

FIGHT BEGINS
See the good ending of HOD4 SP.

This is the same as WHO'S NEXT? but you must hit Pandora's box to get this ending. Aim directly at the box, hold the grenade for at least 3 seconds or wait until you hear a click, then wait a second before throwing it, you should hit it no problem. If you just tap the grenade button you will just lob it and it will hardly go anywhere.

ANOTHER PANDORA'S BOX
See the true ending of HOD4 SP.

To unlock this you must destroy the box and defeat the magician at the end without the magician landing a scratch on you. You do not have to start from Chapter 1, you can start the last chapter(2). See step 3 for more details.

One of the guides you listed in this explains how to get them as well, certainly wont be easy :C

Thanks for letting me know how to break Pandora's box in SP mode. I was pretty confused at the end.

The wiki mentioned you have to throw a grenade to break the box. So I threw all of my grenades and they all fell to the floor uselessly, so I assumed it lied. Nobody told me I had to CHARGE THE DAMN THINGS. >_<

I just got the ANOTHER PANDORA'S BOX trophy, and the way how I got it was by completing 2 of the 3 events (failed the truck), and getting Rank 3 at the end. I don't know how else you would be able to get it, but that's what I did in my playthrough.

How do you complete second event? I've got it only with another gamepad...

All 3 events was successful, Rank was 4. But i get Good Ending again...

You have to burst-fire your gun when the Magician launches the fireballs at you. If you just hold down the trigger you'll get hit. I also beat it on Very Easy mode, I don't know if that's what you did but you might have to make sure you hit as many bonus items as you can.
