Default THQ closes Kaos Studios

Quote:
THQ confirmed today that it has made a strategic realignment within its internal studio structure and is in the process of closing two locations: the company's UK studio and KAOS studio in New York. Both studios' employees have been informed.

THQ continues its strategy of aligning the best industry talent with the company's marquee franchises. The Montreal studio will take over product development and overall creative management for the Homefront franchise. The Montreal studio actively collaborated with KAOS on Homefront.

The company continues to strengthen its internal creative development expertise and is actively hiring in many of its internal studios, including Montreal and Vancouver, Canada, as well as Austin, Texas. THQ's UK studio and KAOS employees will have the opportunity to interview for open positions with the company globally.

Sounds like bad news for any future DLC, unless the new internal studios will continue with those.

I guess the new studio will produce the new DLCs - they sold too many copies to let that opportunity go.

Of Homefront? How many was that exactly, just curious. Last time I checked, this game didn't get many favorable reviews.

They said they shipped one million copies in the first week, so total figures should be a bit above that

I thought they were going to make a CoD like series out of it. At least that's what I read all the time, or will an other studio be responsible for Homefront 2?

I'd like to see a sequel to that. I bet if it had the CoD brand on the cover it would get higher ratings. I admit that the SP ain't quite satisfying but the MP is solid and fun.

I remember they stated that they needed 2 million copys sold to break even. I bet they sold more... although it was on discount pretty fast. I got my copy just 2 weeks ago for 16€ and I remember seeing it up on miscellaneous online shops for 30-35€ shortly after release.

I heard the game shipped two million copies across all platforms.

And it is quite sad to see another studio shutting doors. I was quite looking forward to buying Homefront one day and jumping into the hype train of Homefront 2. Well, we still have THQ Montreal for that though.

Woah if they close Kaos does that mean the servers on Homefront will be closed too?

They are transferring Homefront operations to THQ Montreal, or so I heard.
