Angry Aaah, damn horcrux! HELP!

I started on hard and thought the game was quite easy. But the stupid horcrux fight is taking the toll out of me and might some day cost me my TV when I fling the controller at it.

I've referred to numerous walkthroughs, and they all seem to be simply moving around a bit and shooting - and this doesn't work for me. I can kill the first few snake heads, but once the spiders come out AND that green laser-like light shooting starts (not those green balls), things go haywire. Taking cover behind trees doesn't help coz the spiders surround me quickly and the green lights take my health down somehow (even though I think I'm well covered). I tried using the cloak to fool the spiders, but given that the snakes find me anyway and I can't shoot / aim without taking the cloak off, this doesn't help at all.

Some posts suggest using leviosa and dropping stones on the snake heads, but I couldn't find where these stones are, nor could I find a good cover spot to use this spell.

Some tips .. ANY tip .. please! In particular,

1) Do the spiders spawn infinitely, or can I get them first and then fight the snakes?
2) Is there a good cover spot from where I can avoid the light show, but kill all spiders?
3) Does throwing potions make a difference? (not to mention that I'm awesome at tossing exploding potion on myself)
4) Has anyone used leviosa method with success and think it is worthwhile?

I use impedimenta for this fight, by the way.

The tree in the distance across the water and behind the snakes is king; you'll definitely want to use it while exterminating spiders, which IIRC don't spawn infinitely. I never heard of the "stone" technique, I only used Stupefy and the shield spell.

Here's a related thread that could help: voldemorts soul

That's great, thank you! I'll check out this spot. I'm a little doubtful about the spiders though, because I noticed that they come out in batches of many, periodically (if I stay alive and hidden until then). The times I kill a batch (hiding behind trees), and peep my head out to hit the snakes, I see a fresh batch spurting out of the snake area and running towards me. Perhaps they stop spawning after a few batches .. have to check.

I'm done with this level (and also the platinum trophy). Thanks for your tips. I'll post the method I used in case others need it:

As soon as the level started, I killed 1 or 2 snakes that were right ahead of me. Then I turned all the way around and ran like hell. After some distance, there was a tree with a big rock right next to the tree, on the right side (when you see from the "snake's point of view"). I hid behind the tree and started taking potshots at the snakes. The spiders mostly came from the side where the rock wasn't there, so as long as I'm watching that side I could kill them easily. They occasionally came from the rock-side too and sat on that rock, but this wasn't very often. The green stuff came flying on both sides, but the rock took all the hits that came its way, so I didn't have to bother about that side at all. After a long time the scene ended, but I seriously doubt if I killed all the snakes! And I had this doubt in each difficulty!

I finished the whole fight without dying (on all difficulties) after I discovered this spot.

The easiest method for me was to spam Impedimenta at the snake heads right from the beginning. Get the four or so on the left, move left to avoid the "grenades" (whatever the hell the horcrux is flinging at you), and then Impedimenta spam the remaining snake heads while ignoring the Acromantula and avoiding the "grenades" as necessary. You might die a few times, but eventually you will get accustomed to it.

Yeah this was my method more or less

I saw some walkthroughs doing this but I couldn't really ignore the acromantula. There were just too many around me and they weakened me quite a bit. In all the other levels I happily ignored them either with the cloak or by just running fast. More easy when Ron and Hermione are taking the heat, letting you sneak past enemies with the cloak. I was SO bored of killing after my first playthrough that I was as non-violent as Gandhi in my latter ones.

I just spammed Stupefy 3-5 times, while I moved sideways to the left, and then I went under the cape, still going around the snakes to the left. If you are not out in the open for too long, it shouldn't be able to find you if you move and hide under your cape fast enough. Just make sure to avoid the spiders. You may also want to run behind a tree or something while putting on the cape, so they hit the tree instead of you the little time they got any idea where you are.
