Band Challenges (Online) Question

I have a question. I try to play the band challenges online with a friend of mine but the "Challenge meter" doesn't even appear!
We play career normally. What's the problem?
Do we need to set something up?
Do the challenges need to be done with more than 2 people if done online?

I've noticed that band challenges only count for the person who is the current "host" for the session. Perhaps this is what you mean?

Whoever is in the game with the host gets credit. If the band gets 3/3 stars, all the players get 3 if they do not already have it. If someone has 2/3, he'll just get 1.
