Warning: Creating thumbnails for all cars takes very long.

Thought I'd create a thread about this to warn people. With update 2.0 came the option to create thumbnails for all cars. You know the pictures in the garage that went missing sometimes. It takes very long so don't do this if you have limited time to play and don't want to spend it all on a loading screen:P

First I did my premiums. It took about half an hour for 300 cars

Started it for my 900 standard cars about half an hour ago and it's at about 33% now.

So I think it's about a minute per 10 cars.

Thanks dude, apprecieate this as when I lost my savegame and reverted back to an old backup about 80% of the cars had no image, the most annoying thing is that when I did this I now no longer have the RM at the end of my Racing Modded cars.

I have just over 1200 cars in total, with hardly any thumbnails, I am delighted they put this in, but I will be doing something else when I decide to thumbnail them all lol.

Is there anyway to reduce the savefile size, plaese?
Did anybody else noticed the same size increase?

I noticed this problem after the 2.0 update.

I would visit my garage to pick a car I would want to use to race with. I noticed that half of my cars had no pictures. I thought: "WTH is up with this?!?!? I had the pictures before, why not now?"

I wonder if they know about this & if they do, are they gonna fix it? I dont want to sit here for 30 minutes or more just so my car pictures will show up.

That is what we are talking about in this thread... a new feature tu update all the thumbnails...

I never noticed this yet. Maybe I should see if my file size has changed also.

Thats odd since the new update my file size hasnt increased that much. There was a bit of an increase but nothing more than normal id say. I would be careful tho, im not completely convinced that PD fixed that corrupt file problem they were having on a more massive scale before.

They fixed the problem by not having just one file for the whole game save... if you back up to a USB stick and open the PS3 folder on your PC/Mac, you'll see your gamesave is split into "manageable files"... for example, my main account is about 5MB, but the files are split into 2.1MB chunks, called "GT5.0", "GT5.1", "GT5.2" etc etc.

The problem was caused by GT5 files growing bigger than what FAT32 formatting could handle. Now this isn't a problem, because no GT5 files ever exceed 2.1MB.
