PSN level question

Apologises if this was already discuss. Topic came up with friends tonight and it always bugs me so I am wondering if anyone here has an answer.

According to all sources I see, Trophies are worth 15, 30, 90, 180 points each. And the levels are set, for me currently, 16000 points for level 12. Now PSN tells me I am 71% there which is great. But if I multiply my trophies by what they are worth I get a figure that puts me at 96% to level 12. Why is there a difference? Such a big one at that. Is there more to levels than just points?

Thanks for that script. It got me thinking and I solved my own problem. 71% refers to I have earned 1,420 points since level 11 and I need to get 2,000 to reach 12. The % is not overall points but the difference between levels.

the equation used to calculate your percentage on a level is
(t-p)/[(n-p)/100]
where n is the points required for the next level, p is the points required for the previous level, and t is your total points
the equation used to calculate t is 15b+30s+90g+180p
where b is the number of bronze trophies, s is the number of silver trophies, g is the number of gold trophies, and p is the number of platinum trophies
based on your trophy card you have 6 platinum, 28 gold, 133 silver and 523 bronze trophies
so your total points is
523(15)+133(30)+28(90)+6(180)
7845+3990+2520+1080=15435
so 15435 is your total points
level 11 requires 14000 points and 12 is 16000
now you plug the values into the equation i gave earliar and solve
(15435-14000)/[(16000-14000)/100]
1435/(2000/100)
1435/20=71.75%
decimals are ignored so you should have 71%
