![]() Font & Background done by Footballpsycho. Thanks FBP Image is from Google. Firmware 3.60 & Above If you're a PlayStation Plus subscriber, March 10 or The 10 of March will be your lucky day as cloud based saving comes to the PS3. Starting that day you'll be able to save up to 1000 save games, or 150 MB worth of space. Additionally, you can restore said saves once every 24 hours if you're the kind of person that has some strange desire to play on a new PS3 every day. Be warned though, if your PlayStation Plus subscription lapses, no online save retrieval for you. Instead, they send you your saves, one bloody byte at a time if you don't renew with-in six months. From nohighscores.com Firmware 4.20 update allows you to copy and delete multiple files at once but unfortunately this does NOT apply to locked saves. Firmware 4.25 update has upgrade the current 150MBs to 1GB of space for all PlayStation Plus Members. How to use the Cloud! To back-up: 1. Select [Game] > [Save Data Utility]. 2. Focus on the save data you wish to back up. 3. Open up the option menu using “triangle” and select [Copy]. 4. Select [Online Storage] as the destination of back up. To copy: 1. Select [Game] > [Save Data Utility] > [Online Storage]. 2. Focus on the save data you wish to copy. 3. Open up an option menu using “triangle” and select [Copy]. Profile Locking
Important Information if you don't like Lock Games Saves. Vote Yes for this idea! Link Below Firmware 3.15 & Above As of firmware update 3.15, it is now possible to transfer the contents of one ps3 to another, including locked saves, however this requires the 2 systems to be connected with an ethernet cable. This is obviously useful if you a replacing an existing system with a new one, but it you old system has died, then this will obviously not work. I also understand that this completely overwrites the contents of the recieving system with that of the transmitting system. This in no way resolves the issue of moving save data between 2 systems you legitimately use, but are kept in physically seperate locations, or enabling you to backup you game saves without having to backup the entire system, and being able to restore them to a different system in future. Why Are Games Saves Locked? Developers lock games saves because they want to prevent Certain gamers from obtain trophies without doing the work, gain stats they didn't work for.

How to transfer (copy or move) data that is saved on one PS3.
Before you start please refer to this thread for tips on completing a successful data Transfer. How secure is the Transfer Data Utility? Credit to all that poster in that thread on August 19 & 20 of 2010 1.You can watch this video. Thanks darkdestroyer32 2. You can read this... Info From.. PlayStation Manuals. Data Transfer Utility You can now transfer (copy or move) data that is saved on one PS3™ system's hard disk to another PS3™ system's hard disk using an Ethernet cable. ![]() Quote:
Preparing the systems to transfer data Before starting the data transfer operation, you must perform the following steps. 1.Update the system software of both PS3™ systems to the latest version. 2.Prepare the PS3™ system that will send the data (the “source system”). If multiple users exist on the source PS3™ system, you must perform the following operations for all of the users before starting the data transfer operation.

Transferring data Turn off both PS3™ systems, and then perform the following steps. If the transferred data is saved game data that is copy-prohibited or data that is copyright-protected, it will be moved to the destination PS3™ system and deleted from the source PS3™ system. 1.Using an Ethernet cable, make a direct connection between the two PS3™ systems. You can use either an Ethernet straight-through cable or an Ethernet crossover cable. 2.Connect the PS3™ systems to different video input connectors on the TV. For example, use the HDMI input connector and the video input connector on the TV. 3.Turn on the TV, and then turn on the PS3™ systems. Use the TV remote control to switch the video input to display the screen of the source PS3™ system. 4.On the source PS3™ system, select (Settings) > (System Settings) > [Data Transfer Utility].5.Select [1. Transfer data from this system to the other PS3™ system.]. ![]() 6.When the PS3™ system is on standby to begin the data transfer, use the TV remote control to switch the video input to display the screen of the destination PS3™ system. 7.On the destination PS3™ system, select (Settings) > (System Settings) > [Data Transfer Utility].8.Select [2. Transfer data from the other PS3™ system to this system.] ![]() Quote:
Limitations of the data transfer utility Some types of data cannot be transferred using the data transfer utility, and some types of data can be transferred but not played on the destination PS3™ system. For the latest information, visit the SCE website for your region. The following types of data are not transferrable:
