All the platinums I've obtained were not hard. So a lot are pretty easy.

I would vote no. Platiniums are easy for the most part. Sure, we have hard plats. And we need more of them. As some said earlier, it would be more fun with trophies if everyone had unique plats and not 20 of the same and a few different ones.

I would consider myself more on the casual side of gaming and i say no platinums arent too hard. Its just about being persistent. Gran Turismo 5 was a hard platinum but because i liked the game and basically played it for 1.5 years i eventually got the platinum. I like a challenge, thats what makes gaming fun for me. Back on playstation 2 before trophies it was my goal to finish absolutely everything i could in my games, which for the most part i did. That same attitude has crossed over to PS3 except trophies are involved, its just a matter of being more skilled at something. Id be more annoyed if i was breezing through every game i played instead of them all being too hard, wheres the accomplishment in an easy game?

You've done all 3 Splinter Cells in less than "5 hours", MGS2 in "1.5 hours" and MGS:Peace Walker in "6 hours".
Is that not a "contradiction"?

The point of voting isn't to vote for what's popular! Vote what you honestly think.

^at least he gave a somewhat valid reason.
i mean you can't really say you got a few platinums that were not hard and conclude many are therefore easy. on topic: i did some very rough calculation: reported ~80 mio PSN accounts minus maybe 10 mio fake/unused accounts = 70 mio PSN users/gamers ~500000 users on psnprofiles.com that care about trophies out of those only ~200000 that have at least one platinum trophy 200000 out of 70 mio = <0,3% of PSN users ever got a platinum not many... Was this aimed at me? I was encouraging him to vote for what he [edit: Derbystar to be specific] thought (which he did, and a vote opposite of mine), not what the majority was voting.Shrug - if you only want votes from people with plats over a certain difficulty, then maybe you should specify that.

It's not really the devs that validate the trophies! From what I gather it's something imposed by Sony directly!
Anyway, achievements are important, and any game not integrating that in games is really trying to create something niche! Or a port... People have gotten so used to it that they rage whenever trophies/achievements/whatever don't exist! And as stated, nothing is too difficult, it's only about time and patience playing the same thing over and over and over again until you actually get it right! Even skill, you get that eventually! |
