After living pretty much my entire life with having someone to clean up the place, I started living alone more than two months ago because of school. My main woe lies within the bathroom in terms of the muck that accumulates in the toilet, the 'sludge' that piles up when a lot of soap, toothpaste, and shaving cream drip on the outside of the sink, and what builds up in the sink itself as well. The floor of the bathroom tends to get rubbery/hairy buildups in its corners with time.
I consistently do things like dusting, wiping, washing dishes, and laundry once per week, but leave the bathroom unattended for longer occasions. I just keep getting discouraged every time I try to clean it because it takes up many towels and I always can't get a complete 'polish'. Even the way my items are arranged get in the way of my morning routine sometimes. How do you maintain your environmental hygiene, specifically the bathroom? |

I actually just cleaned my bathroom yesterday.
It was quite nasty. Hair all about the sink, dirt and grime in the bathtub, hair and lint from my towel all over the floor. Disgusting. It's hard to keep a clean bathroom for me because my hair seems to always be coming loose and it gets everywhere. But it sure it pleasant when it is clean.

The bathroom is one of the hardest places in the house to clean along with the kitchen. The simple solution is you have to clean it more often. Twice a week is good.

Sink should be cleaned twice a month, once minimum. Unless you don't run enough water (or any at all) when you spit out mouthwash, toothpaste, etc and your the only user, it should keep clean for up to a month, at least it does for me.
The shower is a different story, get it cleaned at least twice a month minimum, once a week if it sees heavy use (i.e multiple people showering daily) otherwise it'll be so disgusting, you won't want to take a shower in it :P As for the toilet, again, if your the only user, it should stay clean 2 weeks, maybe even more, unless you've had the runs often in the past few days or are simply lazy and don't clean up after yourself if after urinating, drops fall on the edge (if your a guy) or whatever. |

Wow, reading this makes me seem OCD to a point of insanity. I clean my bathroom once a week no matter what. There are times it a deeper clean than other based on use, but it stays clean. I don't like clutter and things just laying places that don't belong. I get bored I clean too, just because it's something to do at the time.
