No Blinking Trophies

I was just wondering why is it when i get a trophy there is not a soundeffect that goes with it. i am at a friends house and all his trophies blink when he gets one and at my house they do not. do i not have something turned on in like settings or something, or is this a common problem?

It wont make a noise if you are listening to xmb music while playing.

am not listening to music first off. and secondly what good would reformatting my computer due for my ps3 trophy noise?

I THINK you can turn the noise on/off you get when scrolling thru the xmb (you know that "click") maybe you should look if its turned off?
