I'm a tech guy. All of my friends know this (considering the majority of them are car people). I love advances in technology and wish I had all the money in the world to buy these advances.
This is the type of reasoning which brought me to where I am today. I am learning how to be a computer programmer (not for advancement in computer's sake though, but for video games - though doesn't mean I couldn't do that). For anyone that has seen the movie The Minority Report, with Tom Cruise, they'll know the computer I'm talking about. The computer which involves multiple screens and your hands, moving around the computer like you're in some virtual world. When I first saw this movie, I thought that computer was amazing, but it being the movies I knew it wasn't true. But I have now come across this little seed that shows my love for technology and shoves it into my heart. It's called g-speak. By Oblong Industries, they've made The Minority Report computer into real life. Click Here, video at the bottom of page. This is the type of thing I hope computers are coming to. I really do. It just looks so fun. I would love to have a whole room in my house dedicated to this thing. |

That's awesome, but I have to wonder what the practical applications are. Obviously consumers have no desire for computers that take up an entire room. I could see this being used in business meetings, particularly in ones occurring in multiple locations at once. If more than one person can control the interface, then they can do it from opposite ends of the globe. This is like GoToMeeting cranked up to 11. It will still be prohibitively expensive for several years, I think, but its awesome to see this sci-fi concept come to fruition. Sort of like how the old-school tricorders are the inspiration for flip-open cell phones. I'm so sharing this vid. |

This would clearly be Nintendo's next big thing... that is if they could make a motion sensor that worked properly.
That's some awesome tech right there though, still... gotta wait for those cinema-esque screens to drop in price |
