Death Note is by far the most intelligent anime series I've ever seen. It's a crazy psychological twister. Check it out here: Death Note TV - Death Note ANIME (TV) AND MANGA
At the moment, I'm watching Bleach. It's good but no where near as epic as Death Note. If anyone knows any anime franchises that are as good as Death Note, please let me know. Last edited by Ogien; 09-28-2008 at 02:45 AM. |

Come on. If you're into anime/manga then you have to have watched Akira and Ninja Scroll. Both are ultimate classics. Wicked City is great if you can find it now-a-days. And so are the original Ghost in a Shell movies.
Also Cyber City Oedo 808, Bubblegum Crisis series, Appleseed. And I also brought my first blu-ray anime a few weeks ago. Called 'Sky Blue' and its actuallu pretty damn good if you like a story with morals. Admittedly some of these are pretty old as i used to watch them in the mid-late 90's :P But you can't beat the classics. |

I really don't watch a lot of anime because I don't actively search for it. If it catches my interest then I'll watch it like any other show. Other than that, the most recent anime I've tried was Bleach; I watched roughly 30 episodes and I never really got hooked enough to finish the other 4 billion episodes.

I would have to say that its 2 different types of intelligence for those animes.
Ghost In The Shell is a more technologically intelligent and what not while Deathnote is more of a battle of wits between two people trying to get the other to mess up and get caught. both still very good animes

Come to think of it, what I will recommend is Ghost in the Shell. The original film is excellent, though the series is also pretty good. There's also Bubblegum Crisis, which one can almost describe as Blade Runner in anime form. In addition to that, there's AD Police, which was a spin-off from Bubblegum Crisis, though it's only three episodes long. All of them are great, there's even an episode which was inspired by RoboCop.
I'm not an anime person, though I'll watch if it's sci-fi. Ah, here we go. Found a nice music video of the RoboCop episode, see how many similarities you can pick out with the scenes. And here's the epic intro to Bubblegum Crisis, you can see the Blade Runner influences right from the get-go. Last edited by ADPolicenaut; 10-06-2008 at 10:41 PM. |
