Four-Year-Old Boy Kills His Father After Not Getting a PlayStation
A preschool-aged boy in Saudi Arabia reportedly fatally shot his father this weekend because of a PlayStation. The AFP reports that according to Arabic-language press, the boy, about four-and-a-half years old, had asked his father to buy him a PlayStation of some variety. When his father returned without a Sony device in hand, the child apparently grew irate (as young children often can). The father, on coming home, began to change. He had a handgun that he put down while undressing. The child retrieved it and fired from close range, shooting his father in the head and killing him. Certain reports have already associated this tragic incident with recent, perennial accusations that video games foster and inspire violence in players, especially young children. Others contend that it may have been accidental. Given how very young the boy is, it seems unlikely that any further motivation will ever be known. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The first thing that popped into my head after reading this was a CSI: Miami pun from Horatio Cane. :/

![]() Fuck this kid. Fuck his dad. Fuck that dude from Norway. Fuck Jack Thompson. Fuck 'em all. I am so beyond tired of hearing about how video games incite rage in people and are to blame for so much destruction. You want to know why this kid is crazy? Open his fucking head up and quit blaming video games. Nobody ever watched Halloween and then put a mask on and stabbed people up so why blame games for murder and terrorism? |

Exactly. The article states as clear as day that the father put down his handgun down in reach of the child. Maybe the child's motivation, if a child that young even has any, was curiosity because he's seen his dad shoot the gun. The father is an idiot for not locking the gun in a safe. And if the child asked for fast food and then proceeded to blow his fathers brains out when he didn't get it, would it be McDonald's fault? Last edited by JHChiBulls; 04-24-2012 at 03:29 AM. |

While it's horrible and all, the father is really the one to blame. First off, he put the gun in reach of the child. Second, who the hell raises a child badly enough that that child wants to shoot people? It's clearly the parent at fault, not video games. We've all seen video games being used as a scapegoat for violence in people a million times, and we all know it isn't true.

On a serious note, I don't think this is a video game story, this is a gun safety story. I would never set a firearm down where a 5 year old could reach it. |
