Destroying a game's trophy list is fun. If a game defeats me then it's becomes not fun. Hence why I am going back to games that I never finished when I didn't care about trophy hunting. See if I can conquer them.

I'm playing Max Payne 3 for fun since the plat is so hard I'll likely never go for it. Shame on me, but the campaign is fantastic.

I'm the same way, a lot of games I only play for the trophies now. I do genuinely enjoy my experience in a lot of them though (FFXIII and XIII-2, Tales of Graces, Dark Souls, etc.). However, I find that my 'fun playing' comes on pc, with other people. Unfortunately, every time I play a game with others, I feel like I should have been playing ps3 cause I am getting behind on my personal trophy goals xP

I play games because I want to enjoy them, be immersed in them. Trophy collecting is an extremely distant second for me. Yeah, I love collecting, and I love how unlike in earlier gens, it motivates me to get 100%, play on higher difficulties, and so on.

On the one hand, everyone plays games for their own reasons. We all here collect trophies too. We can't assume what one person's motivation is behind playing a mediocre and worthless game like Megamind. When I see people playing it I shake my head. I assume the ONLY reason they have it is to get more trophies which I think is kind of pathetic, but that's just me. Some people want to be huge collectors. More power to them. I won't come down on anyone for that.

Basically, I won't buy a game because it has trophies. I buy a game because I want to play it.

I play games, and plat only the ones i enjoy. So basically, i play for fun. My friends don't give a damn about trophies, the only thing they care about is CoD , which is very annoying..+ For me, it tests my skills + completing a trophy list is such a satisfaction.

Nah for the ladies, every time I get a new platinum I rush to the tattoo shop. You should see the gals swarm around me when I take of my shirt and they see all my platinums.

But seriously, yeah I play obvious for fun. Can't lie that getting every trophy isn't always as fun even to downright boring at times. But since I've been young I could never stand not beating a game or always tried to get as much out of my games as possible and that's the exact feeling that a platinum gives me. Nor will I ever play a game that I'm not interested in just to get an easy platinum.

I get games to play them and try to 100% them. If I like the game, I will keep and continue to play. I mean the likes of Demon's Souls I have sunk 400hrs of gameplay into that game after obtaining the platinum. BFBC2 & BF3 I also put into more hours of play for fun but not so much lately.

Recently I have just started Gran Turismo 5 and I have more time put in already played for fun and have got trophies in the game when I'm playing by myself. Gaming has to be fun and trophies are that little extra bonus to make you put more effort into a game and to challenge yourself.

One thing for sure is I wont be starting any games that I dont think I will enjoy just to obtain a platinum. I got have fun in gaming so it doesn't become a chore to complete the game.

While I do collect trophies whenever possible, I almost always try to get as much enjoyment out of a game as possible. Even a game like Megamind, known for being one of the easiest and shortest plats to get, I actually didn't rush through it, although the only reason I had it is because my brother rented a few games and said I could pick one. I looked around the stages for such, upgraded my weapons and such and still finished in under 3 hours regardless but say what you will, I still got some fun out of it. A recent game I platted, Hyperdimension Neptunia MK-II, I spent over 50 hours playing it but could have finished much earlier but I did almost everything there was to do in it before finally just completing the true ending when I was done with the optional stuff.
