Not sure if this has been brought up here before, but how about having difficulty ratings for each individual in trophy guides? It would help members looking at a guide as to which few trophies gives the game such a high platinum/100% difficulty rating. Rating could be based on a a scale of 1-5, half a star increments if needed. Of course, these ratings would be totally based on the guide author's opinion.
For example, it could look something like this (via Duke Nukem): Quote:
I'm using the stars from thread ratings as an example, but this could be something that could be added to our list of smilies? That way, guide writers could easily add it to their guides, and also so they show up on guides in the main site. I'm sure some of you can come up with something better then these stars. Individual trophy difficulty ratings, yay or nay? [EDIT] - I've asked our GFX guru Savenger to make some potential smilies for this potential idea (amazing work as always): Quote:

Yay!!!! I always do the easier stuff first and save the hardest stuff for last so this would really hope poeple like me. This is a good idea and I second this. Also I think stars are a good idea for he ratings.

I think it would be too much work to rate every trophy, and it would just simply be the opinion of the guide maker, unlike the platinum difficult polls which take account many gamers different opinions. Maybe make it up to the discretion of guide makers, but I don't think it should be a requirement.

Personally I think that if this did get added, it should be optional, not required. If your writing a guide for Terminator (for example), its just an unnecesary hassle to add a 1 star rating to all of the trophies. I can see this definitely being beneficial in some situations, but I don't think it should be required.

You are trying to give guide writers/guide team more work to do. It's bad already that we slave over a hot stove and now you want us to stay in the kitchen even longer?
I like the idea but only moving forward and not on guides that are already made. I would also like to see this implanted on the main site as well. Seeing as how we already have a star rating on the main site, this will kind of work out well.

I know it's been brought up before. The problem with individual trophy difficulties is that it would very much subjective. The only way I can see it being useful is if the community was to vote on them collectively. Imagine if the plat difficulty rating was done only by the guide author. He may give it a three. But if you look in the poll, the votes are all over the place. That number only works because the community votes on it together and an average is calculated.

I think we already have something similar in the main site trophy guides. If you go into the comment section for each trophy there's a star rating from 1-5 that allows you to vote for the trophies. I just assumed it meant difficulty, it might just mean how much you like them. I don't think anyone realises you can comment and vote on each trophy though as it's really rare to see a comment for a trophy.
Here's an example: http://www.ps3trophies.org/game/bull...inal-Echo.html Last edited by Soothsayer; 07-25-2011 at 03:45 AM. |

In my eyes the roadmap and guide give you an idea of just how difficult the trophies would be and the order in which it is best to do them. There is really no need for an idividual trophy difficulty.
... Anyway, what's stopping a guide creator from doing this anyway? Why is this posted in the feedback section?

I say nay on mandatory. I think the road map is sufficient as it's supposed to link to the difficulty thread which should contain posts from members explaining their ratings and pointing out any hard trophies that caused them to rate high if they did (although most people just sadly say what they voted with no explanation; I know it'd be a lot of work but it'd be nice if mods could be more strict on spam like that in those threads). The road map also has the steps to take to get the trophies, and the hardest ones are generally at the end as they normally require all the skill and practice you got through playing the game and getting the easier trophies to tackle.
As for optional, if other guide authors want to do it, it doesn't bother me either way. All I care about is not being forced to do it myself. |
