I don't believe he was asking what avatars were, but where he could find them. Google would work.

And I imagine that as long as it doesn't contain anything offensive you can use pretty much any picture you want.

Did you not read further than the first few words, google had already been mentioned too lol

I think using avatars that you found on google is silly, custom avatars are better as it represents you instead

Anyway, just search in google images or something " x 100x100" (replace x with the image you want), most of the results that come up should work

Across the blue navigation bar at the top, click on "User CP", situated on the far left. Down the left hand side, under "Settings & Options", you have to go to "Edit Avatar". See here for more detail:
