It was good fun back then, but I used to triple check posts and make sure the spelling and grammar was top notch not I don't worry about it as much.

I never had the power but the threat of the 'ban stick' was always fun too.

I don't do it any more, I'm only active on two boards but it was certainly an experience.

It certainly is awful at times, I've been mod and site admin of a few places over the years, it takes a lot of time and effort, really have to be dedicated to the position, most people just see an elevated status and a bit of power without thinking about the work it involves. Saying that it can also be fun, but you take the good with the bad.

To be a Mod or any staff member you need to stay on all the time. You can't just sign in once a month. You got to be on all the time(like me). My dad is a Admin on a Star Wars sight and he's on all the time deleting posts because they said something rude or they just pissed off the staff. The way he became a admin was from posting pictures, and all sorts of stuff. Then the staff of the sight made him a admin.

It's more then just 'staying online all the time', we do sleep you know , activity is part of it, but there are also a few more important 'criteria' needed .

being a mod means checking everything once, twice, and thrice to make sure the forums are great places to check out for information, convenience, and help. you gotta be up to date with it all and put in alot of time. I used to be a mod for a small clan site, so I didn't have much work but yea it's fun when you have powers

I was a mod of a general discussion forum the sports section it was fun but hard work I had to end up asking them I could no longer do it because I had work, exams and other commitments for several months. I still act like a mini-mod there from time to time to help out the team though.

Just advice that only try to become a mod if you are committed. The forum I used normally has an application and not a I'll come to you policy as the I come to you, you might be getting someone that is all golden eyed at the start but won't finish the job off properly.
