Karma Good/Neutral/Bad Business

Ok, following the instructions in the trophy guide, I've got a save at lvl 7 (4092/4550).
I was in the tunnels with Dr. Li and the rest of the scientists when I made it.
Got out of the tunnel into the Citidel and lvl 8 popped.

So... a few questions.

1. The little dude in the pip-boy on the General Stats page tells me my status right? If so, I'm way into the positive.
2. Given where I am, how do I get to Neutral (and then bad) while still in the tunnels or after and before entering the Citadel with Dr. Li?

I think once you enter the citadel you can just leave without completing the quest, I'm not 100% though.

Once you're given any quest (except the one you're on now and Take It Back!) you can just go off and do something else. Unless you've got a save from before you started this quest, you will have to start a new game to get the Lv8 trophies. Even killing Dr Li and her companions won't give you enough bad karma to drop your level by any significant amount.

Thanks Terminator. I'm pretty sure that I've got a save from before. If I can remember at what point I was given the quest.

The start point that locks me in is when I started doing things for Dad to start up Purity right? The pump switches and all that jazz?
So I think I have a same that's reasonably close to just before that point so I could go back to it, get my Karma to Neutral by fast travelling to Megaton and whacking NPCs and hacking friendly terminals right?
Then go back to that quest which really doesn't take very long and head for the Citadel to lvl up?

Although getting the Lvl 8 trophies in a new playthrough wouldn't be that bad if I had to do it that way I guess.
Oh, and you can't kill Dr. LI.

Before I posted this actually, when I made my save in the tunnel, I immediately turned around and hosed everyone down.
Two ended up dead. Li and another one only went unconscious. It didn't seem to matter how much I shot her. That's when I gave up, proceeded and thought I would just post here for advice later.

Dr Li is Mission Critical so you won't be able to kill her. Once you start turning things on for your father, that's when you're at the point of no return. I did all the Lv8-20 Karma Trophies in Megaton as there are a lot of killable people (except children as you can't kill them).

haven't disarmed the bomb

so that should be good for a nice chunk of XP to get me there.

To get XP in Megaton you can either Hack every Terminal and Pick every lock or you do what I did and massacre the lot of them .

What I did was just go to Megaton and kill everyone.... dropped me down within minutes

You get XP for killing friendlies? I didn't expect that. That should work though. I think I'm about 600XP away on that save. I think I'll give it a try later today.
I haven't made the save/destroy Megaton decision yet either so when I save it, that'll be worth a good chunk just by itself.

They're not so friendly once you've shot a few of them . I'd get yourself to about 550 XP away, that way you don't have to go looking for extra if there isn't enough in Megaton.
