Post F1 2012 Game Features

What features would you like to see in F1 2012?

Me myself would love to see both Formation Lap and Podium Celebrations like F1 CE as that is realistic

Those two things are probably the most obvious features that I can't believe would be excluded. I mean, how can you show celebration cut scenes but no podium? It's not like they would even have to create detailed models of the real drivers -- they could just show it at a distance from the grandstand's perspective.

My biggest gameplay issue, apart from the penalty system, is probably the automation; both pit lane and safety car conditions. When I disable pit assist, I don't expect any pit assist. Similarly, what is the deal with the safety car? It's constantly telling you you're either going too fast/slow and auto-braking/ghosting. It would be infinitely better to just allow me to drive myself and if I overtake anybody, then I get disqualified. Simple. Ghosting for going too slow is okay, but only if I exceed the maximum allowed distance from the car ahead. I don't need to be constantly told I'm going too slow even though I'm right on the next car's gearbox, or told to slow down when I am no way near them.

I would also like status messages on the XMB (where it shows what games people are playing). If any game has ever needed a thing that tells people you're in the middle of a non-stop session, it is this; it would be nice for people to be able to see that you're in the middle of a 50% grand prix. The absence of such an obvious feature immediately tells me that the developers can't be arsed, which will probably prevent me buying any more of their games until I see a massive improvement. A 'join session' feature would be handy too.

Has a 2012 game even been confirmed? It would surprise me purely for the fact it means they would have to do some work in modelling a USA track (I'm guessing they would have had a Bahrain track on standby).

Same here, Driving behind the safety car makes it extremely realistic and fun but also dangerous. Luckly most of the people aren't braking heavily behind the SC but some of them are still.

Still the pit assist in F1 2010 was the best where you can actually brake before the white line.

This forum wouldn't be up if the game wasn't confirmed, so yes it is

All i want to be confirmed is the formation lap, I really loved it in F1CE Also commentary of martin brundle could be fun during SP Races

Well they're trying to make it realistic from the drivers perspective, I mean when Vettel's in the cockpit racing he doesn't hear Martin Brundle commentating does he lol. Don't really care if it's in or not tbh, rather it's not but I don't mind if it is.

Safety car needs to be improved, Pit assist off needs to be pit assist off, not 'we'll tell you it's pit assist off, however we're lying and the game will assist you instead' pit assist off.
I want to see Formation laps, and the Podium ceremonies. I also want to see driver models and also the ability to create a team to race in Career mode (optional obviously). And Codies really need to sort out online, and give harsher penalties to those that crash and ram others on purpose in Sprint.
Create-A-Driver would be fun. And you can create unlimited teams as well. Then you could create a (for example) 1997 cars and create all the drivers that were in that season. It would take a while to make 20+ drivers obviously , but it would be an awesome addition.

Haha, I remember that from F1 CE, that was awesome, couldn't beat the James Allen/Martin Brundle commentary in game

Was fun and awesome but as I said they're trying to make it as realistic as possible from the driver's point of view, so they probably won't put commentary in the game this time

Can i just add as well that i would like to see a longer career. To me, 7 seasons was alright, but i would have liked to go on a bit longer, but to reduce it to 5 seasons in the last game really puzzled me.
I want enough time to beat records and dominate the sport.

To reiterate Threnzy's comment in the league thread, an online replay function would be great. Hell, there isn't even a proper replay function in single player. For my final career season, I've started doing 100% races (I'm loosely keeping it in sync with the real life 2012 season). After my Aussie race, I wanted to watch the replay but it started at some random point a few laps in. Then at about 20 laps from the end, it looped back around to the actual lights out start and continued from there for a while. It was really fucked up.

Anyway, there needs to be a proper start-to-finish replay function. If it were possible for the game to recognise when other cars enter the frame so you could skip straight through action scenes one by one, that would be awesome. But at the very least I would expect proper playback controls, instead of just a single fast-forward/rewind speed.

The current slow-motion aspect and the dynamic replay view are pretty cool but there is a whole lot of room for improvement. You really need the option to show/hide information such as current lap and position -- especially if the replay is going to just jump in at a random point of the race! To be truly awesome, it would let you do all of this from the perspective of any car on the track and also allow you to record clips (like you can in Driver San Francisco).

As for commentating; while it may sound like a great idea, they could never pull it off. The commentary in FIFA is annoying enough and this would only be ten times worse.
