Why did you buy an xbox?

I'm just wondering: why did you buy an xbox and when?
I personally had my ps3 for several years because I am a Sony fan.

Then my friends all bought an xbox 360, so I had to buy one to be able to play and chat online with them. Recently I'm getting into ps3 more serious again ( trophy hunting)

Please tell me your stories!

I received mine as a gift , shortly after i got my PS3. So i've had both systems for a while now, although i rarely play on my Xbox

I got mine launch date in 2005 because i was ready for next gen.

My first Next-Gen console was the XBOX 360.

The PS3 sold for too much at the time. Or, at least the price looked intimidating enough to be considered "too much".

Funny thing was, upon checking some backward-compatibility lists, I found out the 360 couldn't play this particular game. So I automatically sold my 360, and that's how I got my PS3.

Wish I still had the 360. Some good games there. But I've managed without.

The PS3 was too expensive and none of it's exclusives interested me at the time. The Xbox also had a good deal of RPGs, my favourite genre. It was an easy decision. How times have changed..

This is essentially the same reason for me. I was a day one buyer of the PS1 and PS2, but when they announced the price for the PS3 I literally scoffed at the price and said "No way". I purchased the 360 on launch day because I really loved my original Xbox. I've been a huge Halo fan ever since the original and was clambering to get my hands on the third installment.

So in a nut shell the 360 released earlier and I wanted to play the next gen immediately. I didn't want to wait and when it came to the time for the PS3 to release it just wasn't worth it at the time. But I did buy a PS3 slim on its launch day.

They are both fabulous consoles for very different reasons. I'm grateful to have them both.

I got one because there are some games that you just can't get for the PS3 like Halo and Gears of War .

A Halo 3 game party at my friend's house followed by Reach with a sexy system design spurred me into action 2 years ago. I am very happy I have both!

I bought it just to play exclusives, but I still hate playing it and haven't turned it on since September last year.

All of my friends have XBOX so I pretty much do all my MP gaming on XBOX.
