learning shouts

so i have learned two shouts and have found 2 more, i have killed a few dragons and absorbed their souls, and when i go to learn the new shouts, it tells me i need dragon souls. why can't i learn the new shouts? do i need empty soul gems to fill them with the dragon soul? do i need to go to high horthgar? i don't want to kill any more dragons and waist their souls untl i figure this out. someone please help me. thanks.

It should work. I was making the same mistake when I first started playing the game.

unless you havent found all three parts of a shout? This is a common mistake, you need to find all three part of the shout and then press square. Use the guide to locate all 3 parts of each shout bro. peace

For the trophy you only need the first word of twenty 20 shouts.

To add a shout to your list of available to use shouts you only need 1 word. To increase the strength of shout you can add other words as you find them.

At lower levels shouts are handy and some are needed. Once you increase level to 30-50 range they can become useless at least for a 2h or 1h battlemage.

you are mistaken. Only 1 word of a shout is sufficient

Haha I had just figured out how to unlock it 2 days ago x3 now I'm merking people with all the killer shouts I have.

yeah, thanks guys, that's exactly what i was doing wrong, pressing the wrong button. glad it keeps track of how many dragon souls you have absorbed.
