buying a house in Markarth

I didn't see any other person ask this question, so here I go.

How the fuck does one buy a house in Markarth? I did all the quests, but now that guy sitting next to the Jarl no longer has a pop up dialogue thing, giving me no options to buy the house. Before I started the quests, the option was right there (points at the screen), but now it's gone. The guy just says random things, like some demented old man, just screaming for euthanasia.

I'm betting this is a random bug, as when I left the Jarl's house, a random dragon corps fell from the sky, and then suddenly I got it's soul, you know, at random.

As far as i can remember, you have to be level 20 in order to trigger a second quest from the Jarl and as soon as you complete it you can get the house buying option

I'm level 43, have done all the quests, helped people, done the fornsworn quests, got people hooked up, etc, and I just don't get the option.

even stranger is, that I have a quest now from the jarl that says the following:"Kill the bandit leader located at <Alias=BountyLocation>". I'm pretty sure that's a bug, but is this preventing me from getting a house?

You get houses in some holds after triggering a certain quest.

I was level 50 and couldn't buy houses in Riften or Markarth, searched them all, so I just continued questing, now I am level 54 and when I visited the jarls in Riften and Markarth the houses where available.

If I'm correct Riften opens when you kill Alduin ( not sure of this)

I think you need to complete the deadric quest in that house in Markarth and then after that it becomes available to buy.

Also did that quest, and I have also done the main story quest.

Thought the bugs were almost all resolved in this game. For fuck sake, stupid random bugs. Just had another random dragon fall out of the sky, thing was dead, yet still it twitched and moved. What's up with markarth in my game?!

From what I understand, I read recently, that you can also get Markarth house by completing the civil war for either party.

It was in one of the Wikis that I read that.

I just purchased the House to see if it was glitched for me or not. Mind you this is at level 54 and all Daedric quests completed and I also had all 5/5 required side quests to obtain house already completed. I recall the pop up message said 5/5 completed. I did however also become Thane and purchased the house all at the same time.

I'm gonna try this civil war theory, it seems the only possibility left. But, the civil war will have to wait, I've heard from many, many people, that the civil war can really mess up your game, resulting in game crashing events. So, that'll be the last thing on my list.

I have just recently start purchasing the remaining houses , first house was Whiterun Breezehome, and using this Wiki seems to help a lot

NOTE: I am at level 57 now, and have completed almost all the quests even those related to most of the houses. Riften Honeyside is my last house which I still need to get.
