I usually always play 3rd person in pretty much every single game I play except FPS's. However, in Skyrim I preferred 1st person. 3rd person was decent but just didn't feel quite right....I like getting up close with enemies and seeing them getting hit.

FP for any combat and speech, pretty much everything except:
3P for any running outside

I play mostly in 3rd person, but I do use 1st person view in some cases. I just like seeing my character on-screen better; always have, always will (with any game).
Especially in Skyrim. I mean, what's the point of creating your character's appearance if you can never see him/her?

I did change the camera-turning speed, because I thought it was too fast for 3rd person view (the standard turning speed worked best in 1st person). But no problems with that anymore now.

To me first person view in any game feels like wearing the horses blinders. There is much more going on around us that what we see in first person view games.

Unfortunately in Skyrim the 3rd person view feels like being a spastic. If it was working like in Demon's/Dark Souls Skyrim would be much superior.

So many people state they play in 3rd person, wow. Not kidding, really? TES has always been a 1st person game, and it still is, 3rd person view has been around since Morrowind, but it's only good to take a look at how your character looks. Bethesda stated they've made 3rd person actually playable this time, but this is the same bullshit as 'new engine', character is still poorly animated, aiming is awkward, everything is wrong.

Pretty much what I was thinking.

As in every Bethesda game, 3rd person is terrible. Though I respect different preferences, I really can't begin to understand how anyone can actually play the game in 3rd person view.

You have a point. Bethesda sucks at making third person right, however, after looking at how Fallout 3 and Oblivion were, they've really improved. The bow mechanics are actually really good in third person, I just wish I could see whats going on when I hit people with my two handed weapons, because my character blocks it, if it was somewhat like Splinter Cell Conviction, or Uncharted, it would've been a little more smoother. I still play the game with both views, i enjoy it more that way.

Exactly the way I prefer to use it as well..... I also use third person when running arou d but equip spells so that the distance is a little further back for me to see.

I get headaches when playing first person too long.

First person for sure. Third person blocks out a good portion of the screen with your character. I wish more RPGs were FPS.
