NPC bug

So Im starting the companion quests and everything is going fine, then all of the sudden the two brothers are stuck in some loop where they keep drawing their weapon, talking to me, sheathing weapon...and repeat. I had them follow me halfway across the map and they keep automatically stopping me every time they re engage. >< Anyone else have anything like this happen to them?
